Community gardens open today

Today, July 30th 2013 there is a Grand opening of a community gardens. The event is from 5-7 pm at the Nicola Valley Health Center / hospital, access off Reid avenue.
The project is funded in part by the federal government , New Horizons for seniors program.

Porche commercial

There was a concession van set up buy the old Merritt news building. The men that were working it said they were making a commercial for the German car manufacturer Porche.

Direction signs for the set were seen going south from  town toward the Coquihalla highway in the direction of Hope.

Randy Friskie

On July 19/20th there is a music event here in Merritt. Billed as Merritt The City of Music one of the features is an entertainer named Randy Friskie. Friskie a Elvis tribute artist has been an often contributor to the  entertainment genre about this town. He will be joined in the weekend event by other stalwarts such as Kenny Hess.

Art walk

The local art community is having an art walk through July with over 20 stations art is positioned about this small community and available for enjoyment or buy. One of the locations is at the Merritt Desert Inn and a very attractive guide was produced showing the walk. You may also join the tour by a foot print in the window and an Art Walk  number. The number of the down town tourist info center in their window is 22.

Artists include Bev Veale, Dianne Kernan and twenty others.

Year end

The toastmaster organization year end end is at the end of June. The month of July will see the local club have a new president. Kathleen Joe will be the CEO of club 3929 here in Merritt.
