According to the mining association 95 percent of the province is explored, and when talking to a man from the UK about it he says that leaves 5%; to us that’s huge. Copper mines in South America that had lower labor costs and shipping concerns dampened the industry for more than a decade, here however, in BC, the industry is enjoying a bit of a come back. The industry at its zenith employed about 30,000 people in good high paying jobs. That was about the size of the civil service and they purchased a lot of expensive supplies. Safety standards where high and corporate involvement in the community mirrored democratic ideals.

These cups made in the German Democratic Republic(East Germany) before the change the gold leaf was not in line with the ideal of Communism and may have been for export to get hard currency maybe to buy wheat. All sorts of things worked for the end of that era including a West German landing his Piper Cub in Red Square and surviving. Kudos to all those that have courage to try things; many are never accoladed but when they attempt things in a non reckless way they are just as deserving as those that succeed .

This is the VIP stop for the press at one of the entrances of the Merritt Mountain Music festival, it has been announced that they will be selling tickets starting next month for another festival. The event next summer will have to overcome a number of negatives including 8 percent unemployment, as it’s not like Walt Disney in the 30s with a new and hopeful media. Lots of luck and its all up to the consumer and where they trust their hard-earned bucks…….
