Susan Roline was reelected Mayor of Merritt ,BC Canada on Saturday by a good margin garnering about 100 votes. Less then 2000 turned out to voters gave her a handy vote margin over her challenger former Mayor Bob Baird. He garnered some over 700 votes.
Shelly Sanders was not returned by one vote in favour of Alastair Murdoch who was. An upstart new comer North American Indian and former Hollywood set man Harvey Keys placed last and not elected, but managed about 400 votes: a good showing. All other incumbants were returned and Clara Norgaard a former Mayor was elected in place of Sanders.
The new sidewalk upgrade is nearing completion with some large stars placed in the beatification with bits of copper scattered with in.
Merritt was once known as the Copper Capital of Canada as a billion pounds of copper was mined at a local mine site.
One unconfirmed source said the copper came from Highland Valley Copper’s mine, the mine you can see from space, about 45 miles from here. Another thought they came from copper pipe, and a white hat didn”t know were but said they were manufactured in Vernon.
