The Ambassador Society had its contest on the weekend. Mike Hume , president had 13 candidates for 3 positions as provincial ambassadors.

The positions were filled by young people from Trail;Carley Henniger,

 Kamloops; Acacia Schmietenknop,and Castlegar; Mariah Morris.

Twenty thousand dollars worth of bursaries and tuition were also given out for excelling in a number of categories including public speaking, fund raising , talent , knowledge and friendship.

One of the retiring youth ambassadors was Sarah Simon from Merritt , after enjoying a year the 3 outgoing  had an escorted walk about the Civic Center as a recorded farewell speech was played to an attentive audience. The darkened walk  with formal evening wear created a mood of style and grace. Then the women placed crowns on the heads of those succeeding them and took a seat  with all the competitors.

This year there were no young men in the contest something  not the usual practice for the Society.

Tables displaying produce and pictures from the communities represented were about the Merritt Civic center and enjoyed at intermission time. the event ended with a late social supper, at the Civic Center.
