Some plumbers from Copper Valley Mechanical are under the foyer gas fireplace this afternoon,at the local community college.. They are in agreement to the need of awareness for natural gas safety, including the knowledge that the gas is made to smell like rotten eggs to help detect when a leak occurs. They say that all main lines are tested with air under pressure when service is provided and that connections on later installed furnaces and appliances need to be soap tested by installers.
Editors : natural gas is not toxic however it will asphyxiate when it displaces enough oxygen. It is however explosive and new pilot lights that are electronic will set off of a very dangerous force of explosion.
