The local expression of the church that is not world religion , the United Church is having a pancake supper. The Methodists , Congregationalists and Presbyterians united after a munitions ship exploded in  Halifax Harbour early in the 20th century. One church building of the three were left standing after a horrific blast leveled most of the City of Halifax. They took comfort together in that building and later named it the United Memorial church. The dynamic stuck and the pluralistic groups remain United till this day.

The fund-raising  event here for the locals is on February 12 Shrove Tuesday at church the corner of Quilchena and Chapman 5-7 PM children under 9 four dollars ,adults six dollars.
