Indigenous summer.

Called Indian summer to many the term may refer  to the warm hazy days of autumn  that north American first peoples liked to hunt for winter caching of meat.

The Ingenuous elementary school  from Upper Nicola participated a parade on Thursday promoting Salmon conservation and concern about pipelines.  Salmon is also a food stock traditionally preserved for winter.
