Continuous insurance

A Harley motorcycle owner from Saskatchewan was displaying a plate that had a “continuous” expiration date on its plate. When asked he said it is new and if you register for direct payment with your bank account you can display that on your plate. He was happy with that and speculated that they would look you up if there was NSF at renewal time.

Big rigs

Large trucks are a concern when driving, a smashed haul truck behind a tow truck yesterday was a reminder of the force and kinetic energy involved when things go  wrong between trucks and others. Drivers have a class one license to run these things and are considered professional drivers. Have medical requirements to pass to keep their license and are very concerned about their driving record as it is a livelihood.

A source tells me that 2 months ago a haul truck tangled with a 50 foot trailer at the Coldwater interchange here, much damage was done and fortunately the accident was survivable.  It’s a great loss of time and effort and a real upset to life’s. We recommend that you keep to the divided freeways and when using the routes that are not remember to keep vigilant and stop to  do your tourist browsing where it is safe to do so. Keep your holiday safe and memorable without calamity.

TEMPORARY OP PERMIT

The fellow that rides this bike uses a temporary  operators permit, he has three bikes and does not insure any but is allowed 1 permit per year per bike in Manitoba. The permit for less that a month costs about 90 dollars and works for him as a Water Bomber Mechanic.

He says insuring them is prohibitive for cost, so he must self insure the rest of the time something allowed only off road and on private property.

recreation

A retired man named Jerry has good access to the great outdoors around here. We think that that’s a privilege and worth much in lifestyle and quality of life. A tenured system allows access to Crown land for responsible recreational purposes. One tenure, the open range land (one of the oldest) is sensitive to noxious weeds spreading on rec vehicles and we advise people always to heed signage and gates.
