Missing people, Ben Tyner 32

Tracy Dunsmore Search and Rescue, avoid employing Tracy! File Photo KDG

The Nicola Valley has its share of mysteries the most recent is the disappearance of a local ranch manager at the historic Nicola Ranch.

Ben Tyner’s Horse comes back…

Fact is that his horse came back and the search is no longer a rescue, this after 7 days of search. The 32-year-old cowboy’s disappearance has caused the Mounties to deploy major crimes investigation units without a word on the public safety status.

Kelly Morrison…

Kelly Morrison went missing from Stump lake ranch October 22nd 2013 and his whereabouts remains a mystery. Dean Kelly Morrison was employed at the ranch north of the Nicola Ranch and had been let go. He had car troubles and had called a tow truck then went missing. The family still maintains a 3000 dollar reward for info with posters about including the window of Merritt printing. Morrison had been a volunteer in the last election attempt of Harry Lali . The campaign failed to elect Lali. There is no indication that it had anything to do with his disappearance other then contributing to a sense of failure.

Dean Kelly Morrison was a volunteer in this election the saw former NDP cabinet minister Harry Lali get 39% of the vote going down to the Liberal MLA 44%

Missing First Nations and the municipal election cycle.

Garry Handlen has been in the system for the murder and disappearance of local FN girls in the last two election cycles for municipalities both cycles the family has expressed gratitude for the justice given in the case going back to 1978. Closure for these types of situations seems to be elusive and life consuming. We recommend that every one have a good attitude toward personal safety and avoid situations that could cause preventable grief to the community. ( Even the Trudeau family could have avoided this by Shasa not being out alone and presumably drowning on November 13th 1994 , never being found.)

Mounties resist uniform change…

Auxiliaries tagged volunteer.

The UBCM is reporting that they want the Mounties to change the uniform that the auxiliaries wear. ” to relect the autority of the position” which would include removing the tag Volunteer.

UBCM’s primary concern is the RCMP decision to prominently display the word “volunteer” on the uniform, and how it does not accurately reflect the authority held by Auxiliaries. A more professional uniform may also help reverse a trend that has seen a number of Auxiliaries leave the RCMP in recent years, coinciding with changes that have limited the scope of the Auxiliary Program.

No changes to take immediate effect, Cops

The Mounties are not going to immediately implement and change including the volunteer tagging .The National Occupational Health and Safety Committee has reinforced the keeping of the tag. The direction is ackowleged and a recommened consultation periiod of 18 months after some sort of implementaion is talked about.

BC Gone to pot…

The regulation of use and sale is in effect for pot today with one official store in Kamloops BC.

Provincially, control over the sale, supply and possession of non-medical cannabis is established through the Cannabis Control and Licensing Act. The Cannabis Distribution Act establishes the provincial government’s role as the lone wholesale distributor of non-medical cannabis in BC. In preparation for legalization, the provincial government, on October 5, 2018, released new and amended regulations for BC’s legalized non-medical cannabis system. Notable regulatory changes include:
A maximum possession limit of 1,000 grams for non-public places (e.g. at home);
Prohibiting smoking and vaping within six metres of doorways, windows, air intakes of public buildings, bus stops, or bus shelters;
Permitting indoor consumption of cannabis in certain public places (e.g. hotel rooms (if permitted), designated rooms in hospitals, assisted living facilities and retirement homes);
Allowing consumption of cannabis in recreational vehicles and trailers if they are parked where camping is permitted and being used as a private residence;
Exemptions for the consumption of medical cannabis on school property, buses, trains and boats;
Prohibiting the operation of a cannabis delivery service;
Finalizing violation ticket fines — $230 for smoking cannabis in a prohibited area, and $58 for vaping in a prohibited area;
Applying the 7% PST to all cannabis sales (medical and non-medical), in addition to the GST, federal excise tax and 15% wholesale mark-up issued by the LDB.

Walk facing the oncoming traffic!

win_20161021_13_41_33_pro

So they build great sidewalks for the use of many people to walk to destinations. We know of people that lost legs to walking with the oncoming traffic coming in the lane right at their back. Never mind death wish crazed drivers there are heart attacks, mechanical failures, weather bursts any number of reasons to be one lane away from traffic when walking close to the curb or even on the sidewalk.

Walking in a group maybe talking about the game all the more reason to see the oncoming traffic in the closest lane.

Simple but people are not thinking of being hurt they are relaxed and mostly in attentive. The consequences are terrible to lose a leg or your life causes  distress to everyone involved.

Stay safe, pay attention, keep alert. Walk with the oncoming traffic in full view!

The gasoline prices going into the American Thanksgiving weekend are  from $1.29.9- $1.32.9 a liter. Long weekends should not effect prices as oil is done by futures contacts. However as a trigger to action we in Canada could reduce our driving by regulating speed, tuning up autos, pooling, planning trips to advantage, not driving unnecessarily.

 Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) works with provinces and territories, other government departments, and Canadian and international groups to explore how to meet our energy needs and adapt to changes in distribution methods while considering the environmental impact of doing so.

Canadian crude oil and petroleum product inventories have been relatively stable for the last five years. Inventory levels for some products, such as gasoline and furnace oil, fluctuate significantly over the year. Demand for these products is very seasonal and at its peak can exceed the production capacity of refineries. Therefore, refiners need to anticipate the peak consumption periods by building inventories in advance. Gasoline inventories increase during the first quarter of the year and are used during the summer months to supplement refinery production. Furnace oil stocks grow during the fall and are drawn during the coldest months of winter when demand is at its highest level. Source Canadian Government.

Sixty percent of Americans are traveling this weekend, slow down and save a little gas in your travels, better your chances to arrive alive and save some grief. Delay a pipeline a minute without costly retail gas prices encouraging it.
