The Daughter of Keltoum
This 2001 film is set in the hills of Algeria. Muslim Berber people living in poverty high above a mountain road are forced to give up two girl daughters. The story line begins when one of them at nineteen and westernized seeks her mother for answers and revenge.
Many ironies and adventure happen to the protagonist Rallia in her quest of discovery and resolution. Her aunt Nedjma dogs her in her quest and turns out to be the biggest irony in the girls resolution of identity. The setting of mud and stone isolated living connected to urban life by a mountain bus gives a good sense of a culture that once included pirates and bandits now somewhat civilized, yet still a lifestyle that only briefly wonders about the need for resolving the conscience of a person wanting to know her origins.
To understand a passing culture not our own and get a feeling for blood links imperfect draw. Daughter of Keltoum.

The Golden Palace Restaurant.
Level entry off 1953 Nicola Avenue in Merritt brings you into a spacious eating place. Large new cloth-covered high back chairs give a reasonable comfort to enjoy a Chinese dinner. With apparent capacity at over a hundred, the building is chambered into three distinct area that could be connected by sound with some effort. The general decorum is that of quiet eating and not loud or boisterous. Although not licenced the proprietor says if you bring your own she has a separate area they would set aside for that.(check to see if you need an event licence).
The buffet table has 16 items and a salad bar, deep fried prawns and some other popular items are only available at night, And Rice noodles thick with brussels sprouts only when a bus tour is in the building @ nine ninety-five lunch, twelve ninety-five supper ,you may have a dollar off each if you are a senior.
Full a la carte menu is available also every thing you would imagine for a Chinese Restaurant, the menu includes for a person ,combination and family dinners. Dinner for four comes out to $49.95
