The Secret in their Eyes: 2009, DVD,

 Blue Ray: 2010

This film runs for 120 minutes and carries an R rating. Set in South America and is, what else these days, a murder who done it.

People have passion and once again they spill over into trouble, drama, suspense, and then retribution, with a little reconciliation. The Restricted rating on this film is well deserved. The imagery is brutal and graphic. Set in Argentina the land is replete with monuments to larger than life ideals, the huge pillars about the law courts, in and out, give and expectation of competence and justice. The soccer coliseum full of ranting soccer fans hugely displays the contrast of escape to the simple when justice fails. A chance meeting with a wanted man by the justice seekers turn the coliseum into a venue for justice.  One man’s quest for justice over revenge winds and curves through a corrupt system and eventually makes a moderate statement at the end of the film.

This film reminiscence in kind of the 1930’s era in the United States when they experienced corruption and brutality in the racketeering and underworld verses government wrangle. It is relevant for us here in Canada again and is a timely reminder of what can happen when the political affects the justice givers. Assassination, threatening and vigilantism are a horrible lifestyle to live under. The recent convention of elected ministers here that produced a statement on doing better on missing women cases gives us pause to remember that we have a mandated justice system separate to the legislature that works on a complaint driven process. Putting anyone they can justify for a crime away or interfering in the courts may seem popular but this film reminds us what that can end in.

This film for its courage rates:  5 stars excellent.

Also: Watch the gallows humor of the prosecutor for an understanding of living under stress.

The next showing of the Film society is November 15, at 7:30 PM at the local college lecture theater. Featured is Maxmanus a war thriller.

Restaurant Review: A&W Spicy Mama Hamburger

Nice treat for an introductory price of a dollar ninety nine.  Spicy is correct this three oz meat burger is highlighted with chipotle hot sauce; that is a mayonnaise based hot sauce and some lettuce, jalapeño cheese , onion ,and it’s a startling  munch. This burger will wake you up, and give you good reason to stay hydrated with some sort of beverage. It endures sometime after it is eaten and is a great conversation piece.

For those that dare to try new things this burger rates, good

Opinion:

Justice and revenue:

Many resources’ are put at the hands of the justice system in North America and those resources’ are for the retribution, protection and some rehabilitation for those deserving of the justice system. When it is used as a revenue source it is always a slide to corruption. Without taxes to support the system it will revert to privateer-ing in some kind of order but will lose its basic integrity.
