On December 7th, several significant events have taken place throughout history. Here are a few notable ones:
- In 1941, the Imperial Japanese Navy launched a surprise attack on the United States naval base at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, resulting in the death of over 2,400 Americans and the United States’ entry into World War II.
- In 1972, the Apollo 17 mission, the final manned lunar landing mission of NASA’s Apollo program, was launched. It was also the last time humans set foot on the Moon.
- In 1988, an earthquake measuring 6.9 on the Richter scale struck northern Armenia, resulting in the loss of thousands of lives and causing widespread devastation.
- In 2003, former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein was captured by U.S. forces near his hometown of Tikrit, effectively ending the manhunt for him.
- In 2015, the Paris Agreement on climate change was adopted, aiming to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions and limit global warming.
These are just a few examples of the various significant events that have taken place on December 7th.
