The BC Government is having a seminar for Fire smart programs on August 26th. Made for local government it is being hosted by the; UBCM. titled Fire Smart Tips and Tricks it comes out of a information seminar presented in Merritt in recent years.

The webinar provide advice on accessing the FireSmart Toolkit; utilizing FireSmart BC’s social media accounts; working with FireSmart branding guidelines; accessing other FireSmart BC resources; and a provide brief overview of the 2022 Community Resiliency Investment (FireSmart Community Funding & Supports) funding program.

Button hole your local representative and make sure they take it serious.

The usefulness of this information can not be over stated. Anyone can visit the fires smart Bc website for perusal.

The provincial government is doing an intake for their 2018 Wildfire protection initiative. Embers can find fuel in places around and on buildings, making your property fire safe is a goal of the BC government.

Applications for fuel management prescriptions supported by a current and approved Community Wildfire Protection Plan, and for operational treatment projects supported by a current and approved prescription, will be considered for funding.

Program materials and intake information for the February intake will be available at the Union of BC Municipalities website at the end of December 2017.

Future intakes to SWPI will be subject to the outcomes of the provincial wildfire reviews. source UBCM

Don Parno of Fire Smart Canada is having aa seminar on August first. The Seminar is on ways to lower your homes chance of ignition by wild fire.
The seminar is hosted by the TNRN and is at the Library 1691 Garcia st in Merritt.
IT is sponsored by the City of Merritt and FireSmart Canada. The time is 5-8 PM.
There is a sign up sheet at the library.
