The 1st of two full moons in October will be on Thursday October 1st. Next on will be a blue moon.

Bumped from Hunter Moon

The moon in October would called a hunters moon but this one is called a Harvest Moon because of the early September showing of a full corn moon.

On this Day: September 29th 2004

An asteroid passes with 4 moon distances of earth.

The higher the latitude the  greater the effect of the harvest moon. The northern hemisphere were we are has the benefit of diminishing daylight at this time making the effect more pronounced.
