  2. Freezing: Storing food at 0°F (-18°C) or below to stop the growth of microorganisms.
  3. Canning: Using heat to create a vacuum seal in jars to prevent the growth of bacteria.
  4. Drying: Removing moisture from food to inhibit the growth of bacteria and mold.
  5. Pickling: Submerging food in an acidic solution such as vinegar to prevent spoilage.

To ensure food safety during preservation, it’s important to follow these guidelines:

  • Use clean and sanitized containers and utensils.
  • Maintain proper storage temperatures for refrigeration and freezing.
  • Follow tested recipes and methods for canning and pickling to avoid foodborne illnesses.
  • Regularly inspect preserved foods for signs of spoilage, such as mold growth or off-odors.

Art and lifestyle showing

This showing of art and lifestyle chronicles  an interesting life of a women, that came to Canada from Holland at 19 years of age.  She has hosted an optimistic life after coming 6 months after War Bride privileges expired in Canada to join her Husband a WW II veteran she met in Europe. One of her life choices was to not compete in the 1948 Olympics that she had qualified for and to choose  a  more private lifestyle here in Canada with her future husband Norm.

Her choice’s further included wisdom to over come the past as a child viewing mass  reprisal executions in her village by occupation forces. The woman is a great example of overcoming and mitigating the petty things that often escalate to the  unattractive and sometimes cruel; in this life sometimes covered by a thin veneer of prosperity.

Her showing at the Court House Gallery here in Merritt BC , Canada kicks off with an evening reception on the ninth of July.  The showing will run weekends through July.
