The Merritt team playing at home leads the Kelowna Junior B team 3 to 1 after the first.

The local junior hockey club had 80 hopefuls at their main camp this year. The club was carrying 30 when they had their exhibition game on the 24th in Merritt. The Cents lost 5 to 2 to the Pentiction Vees. The next exhibition contest is in Prince George tonight with the Spruce KIngs.

Successful start, Merritt Centennials BCJHL

The local junior hockey team is hosting the Penticton. The hockey club is sporting a first place status in the three divisions. The game will also have a fundraiser for Cancer research to mark the game.

The Cents also have the distinction of being the oldest franchise in the BC league, 45 years.

The Local Junior hockey team is having its home opener on Saturday at the Nicola Valley Memorial Arena, downtown Merritt. The team is facing Vernon at 7PM.
The franchise Merritt Centennials relocated here from White Rock in 1973. The “Cents” has enjoyed the longest run in the league calling Merritt home for 45 years.

Merritt Centennials

The local BCJHL hockey team had its spring camp on the weekend. The Merritt Centennials are the longest surviving franchise in the league.They just lost out to the Pentiction   in the playoffs.

A source says that 60 hopefuls divided up into four teams for 2 games and they are all looking forward to the camp in August. For those that got noticed and will be invited . Things are on the line ie :scholarships and pro- hockey careers , as well as semi pro is all up  to those that prevail.
