The Olde Court House gallery is out of its 1840 location. And moving to a new local up Nicola Avenue corner of Voght and Nicola to the center of the junction of Highways 5, 5A, 97C and 8.

Expected opening

The group expects to open by October 15th at the new place.

The building at 1840 Nicola avenue in Merritt is circa 1913.

BC Government services

Before the internet brought Merritt its access center the old court house had the government agent, probations, mining recorder and county court services.

Magistrates court

The 1840 location had county court services under a magistrate. Frank Dodding from the pioneer Lower Nicola Family held court in the upper chambers of the building for many years . Frank also ran the local Purity Feed outlet .

Veterans Day

The building had a front balcony on the second floor where last post was sounded on November 11th yearly.

Art Gallery

The 1840 location is currently used by the Nicola Valley Community Arts Council as the OLDe Court House Gallery.

The Nicola Valley Community  Arts Council is having a show of artisan works for sale. The show has a special musical guest Shirley Lindgren for the official reception on Friday 4- 7 pm.

The Gallery is at 1840 Nicola avenue in Merritt and the artisan show runs from November 30th to December 22 2018. Open from 12- 6pm Thursday through Saturday. Coordinator Yano Howorth.

The Olde Court House Gallery in Merritt hosts monthly art shows the Art Walk , sponsored by City , Chamber, Arts Council  is on  for your enjoyment  to September 3rd. The grounds are there as well Gallery times are weekends noon to six as well as Thursdays.

Editors Note: The final day for the Art Walk Show is September 1st not the 3rd as written above.
