The Olympics are on and the results belong to the world this summer in Paris.

Post COVID, we touch wood, timely for the engagement of the world’s youth. Void of politics. The fellowship of youth in engagement of style effort and performance will be tried once more.

Canada’s team

Our nation has sent a robust team and at this Sunday night writing women have won a silver and a bronze: E.Harvey fencing bronze  and Summer MacIntosh,silver in freestyle swimming.

Watch for Gunnar Holmgren from Orillia Ontario, in mens cycling on Monday.

Softball, Olympics July 23rd – August 8th, 2021-Tokyo 2020.

The Olympics are on with the official opening on tomorrow. The thing to watch is Softball and in particular the Canadian team. The spring time community sport is one of the host countries three choices of non regular sports in the Olympic line up. The Japanese like softball and it has a place in its communities as a regular sport.

Japan has its first game won against Australia ,8-1 on the Wednesday opener.

Gold medal game 1 Yokohama baseball stadium July 27th, 11am.

The Canadian team is going for gold, what else is new.

2010 winter olympics

The Vancouver rendition of the winter Olympics is ten years on. The organizers of the event built on the success of the Worlds fair from 86 and the stability of the Gordon Campbell government to have one of the most successful winter Olympics ever.

BC the best place on Earth

BC is a stable vibrant place to live it has one of the lowest death rates in Canada and quality of life is known around the world .

The second premier of BC was William A Smith who changed his name to lover of the universe. He was also a member of parliament for Victoria and wanted to head of the executive of both the province and country. He was considered to be an iconoclastic personality and set a reputation for the province to be a place of eccentric leaders. He also earned the credit for being the Father of BCs confederation when it joined Canada in 1871.

The label of eccentric was broken in the dialogue of the press with the election of the Vancouver mayor Gordon Campbell as the BC Premier, it has remained that way since

2018 Winter Olympics February 9th to 25th , Pyeongchang South Korea.

Good luck to all those in South Korea as they start the 2018 Winter Games. Lets hope that politics will take the time off and that healthy young people, who are our future will enjoy a time of free and fair completion and up hold the personal value of sportsmanship.

The 2010 winter saw Olympic success and our community had a part in the event. Toronto has to decide if they will submit a bid after a proven record of the Pan Am games. Volunteers make Canadian Olympics unique to a degree. Lots of luck to those involved and possible future involvement. Here’s looking at 2024, and is Toronto interested in 2028.It would be Canada’s forth Olympic Venue.

Toronto had interest in bidding for the 2020 or 2024 Summer Olympics, especially after their successful bid for the 2015 Pan Am Games. However on 20 January 2014, it was revealed that Toronto would not be pursuing a 2024 Summer Olympics bid due to bidding costs and a “next to no” chance of being awarded the games competing against a strong European and United States bid. Instead, mayor Rob Ford and deputy mayor Norm Kelly suggested that 2028 could be a feasible opportunity for Toronto depending on who is awarded the 2024 Summer games.[32] Toronto previously bid for the 1996 and 2008 games, but lost out to Atlanta and Beijing respectively. source Wikipedia
