The Merritt public library is having a book sale, March 12 through the 23rd. A one free book coupon are available for one per day use. The library is at 1691 Garcia street ,and hours are Tuesday and Wednesday 10 am to 8 pm, Thursday though Saturday 10 am to 5.pm.

A motorman from Beaver Drilling gave us a conversation last week. He said he is working on a Double Drilling Rig , in the Rocky Mountain Foothills. For natural gas, his state of the art rig is usually involved in oil exploration. The motorman sowed me a key chain model bit and talked about whip-stocking a method of pulling back in a hole and stopping rotation of the String and hydrological turning the bit and controls a horizontally inclined take off. This makes for a managed drilling platform into a field.
Shale gas production has had a dramatic effect on supplies and the industry suffering is setting its hopes on conversions from high carbon use such as coal and oil to clean natural gas. according to the Horn River News in gas suffering Alberta, June 19th 2012, this may take years, and there are concerns it may not be timely for Alberta if major players go elsewhere.

The shell station at the top of the hill on Voght street is showing a gasoline price of a dollar and 21.9 cents a liter that s up 10 cents from a week ago down town. An employee from the neighbouring Petro Canada in an interview said she was walking over to check the price of the competitor. implying that was her directed job.
The summer driving season usually sees a spike in retail gas prices. These increases are a little early for the May trough September demand period.

There was a scale card at the local library for White cane week that had 6 eye conditions simulated through lens. What was surprising to me was blind is not like when you close your eyes it is a soupy white. One condition is like looking through bridal lace, and macular degeneration just fuzz’s the letters some, on a card.
A number of people suffered some sort of blindness including the retired radio personality Al Clark. Al had a marvelous voice on the local Q101 giving no inclination of any disability, however he was not able to secure a driving licence and was years ahead of bicycle and helmet usage.
Editors note: The channel 888 here is looking for 1000 sight challanged people for a consultation group to recommend services for the blind. the channel narrates programs for people to enjoy that would have to guess at visuals in shows. They are also applying to renew their licence with the CRTC.

The Accessible Channel or AMI promotes media access for 6.6 million Canadians who are blind, deaf,,vision impaired or hard at hearing.It was launched in 2008, and goes by TAC for short.

Darryl Sittler gets 10 points in a single NHL game
One of the local Elementary schools began a strong start program last year. the public School Merritt Central Elementary School, today is circulating posters saying that there is now a fee drop for both the children: birth – 5 years, and their caregivers. The poster also now includes two more of the 4 elementary schools here in Merritt.
The local school board has recently had to close a middle school for the lack of 48 students.

The Nicola Naturalists are having a presentation on bats on thursday the 17th. At the lecture theater at the local community college, NVIT at 7:00 PM. Dr. David Kerridge a retired professor and founder of the biology department at Vancouver Island University will be presenting.
The society usually says all welcome and donations requested. NO food or drinks in the lecture theater.
