The last living witness from that chair is gone.

Working with Canadian Prime Minister Brian Mulroney he was responsible for the Free Trade agreement that regulated up to 2 billion dollars in trade between the two countries for more that 2 decades. LA. Riots

The 1992 race riots in Los Angeles sparked by an incident of a police beating of Rodney King  left a stain on his term. Sixty three deaths and more than 2 thousand injuries were the result of arson, looting and vandalism. The six day mayhem ended with military intervention. Rodney King won over 3 million dollars in civic damages and died two months after he published his memoirs.  The King beating and subduing was captured on a 12 minute video by George Holiday and became a bellwether for video access to police activities. Bush completed his term January 20th 1993 after the office was won by democratic candidate Bill Clinton.

The United States adopted its flag on June 14th 1777. It has gained associated credibility in  number of conflicts and lost some of it in others.  The equality of people was supported in the US revolution, being self evident. Further no taxation without representation and other ideals it has stood for have made for a bloody and conflict ridden path for “old glory” to follow in the pursuit of freedom.

The US is also one of the most incarcerating countries in the world and is less forgiving to those that mix up liberty with licence.

Editors note: US incarceration rate is 716 persons per 100 thousand, they hold 22 percent of the world prisoners, and spent approaching 80 billion in 2007. The US is less then 5 percent of the worlds population. 2007 US Justice
