The area now occupied by the 270 million dollar Merritt Green energy project had this lone box car sitting on it until construction.

Landed immigrants, labourers were once employed to load these things with dimensional lumber by hand. Automation dramatically changed the dynamics of this industry from a few decades ago.

We are on a course that does not allow for going back to that…

Merritt has three freeway options going by as well as a number of undivided highways with corners and easy pull off at lakes and rivers. These routes are sometimes preferred by groups of motorcycle enthusiasts.
A group of international firemen were coming into town on highway 8 from the Fraser canyon on the weekend enjoying the alternate route. They were planning on continuing to Kamloops on 5A and stopping at the historic Quilchena Hotel on Nicola lake.

Watch out for deer they can be devastating to a MC.

The blue is not to be confused with handicap parking as it is for EV vehicles charging at the station. There is also a 90 Amp (70 continuous AC charger with in reach of the parking stall.
The parking lot is used for the farmers market until October and on Saturday mornings.
Andrew a supervisor says that the markings were supplied by BC Hydro.
Editors note: The DC charger is 500 volts 120 amps.

TGIF- Greyhound election

The press is saying that there will be an election call on the weekend making a possible 77 day writ period leading up to the vote. The fixed election date  on October 19th.That will be the longest election in Canada’s history a full month longer then the last one. This will, in our view ,give time for a lot of public transportation and public engagement of individual candidates. A lot of work and a challenges to keep parties on message, and responsive to voters.

There are some significant topics to discuss in energy, international involvement, domestic oil concerns, Senate etc. A town hall, style election is most likely the best way to accommodate these things. The stump should be low and the mandate charged with input.

One person one vote needs to be reinforced, as well as responsiveness after decades of international strife and engagements in huge issues a home-coming call would be refreshing.
