Carbon planet

All that is planted does not grow. However look at this from TD Bank.

Carbon neutral bank

TD claims carbon neutral since 2010 in its operations. One of its mission statements is to ” develop colleagues and act with resect” Something that seems missing in the present social political climate.

Trying not failure

Even though the trees above failed to take effort always leaves a legacy of knowledge!

Canadian Chartered banks excellent.

The chartered bank system in Canada was in the forefront of the survival of the world banking system in the collapse of many large investment banks at the start of the great recession in the decade after the millennium turning. Lets hope they can be as productive in the carbon conflict.

Ethiopa Plants 350 million trees.

Ethiopians planted more than 350,000 trees in just 12 hours on Monday, the country’s minister of innovation and technology announced on Twitter. The mass-tree planting not only helps the environment, it sets a world record, the Associated Press reported.

Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed created the initiative to help restore Ethiopia’s landscape, which experts say is being eroded by deforestation and climate change, the AP reported.

They had help from UN and government but its a good start.

Bird count and context…

The Nicola Naturalists had their annual Christmas Bird Count on the weekend . Wayne Weber a participant here since 1994 in the count ( before the NNS took it on) met with 7 other counters at the AW Sunday at first light ( solstice coming soon). The group left for the count with an expectation and in weather well above freezing. The count is divided into areas and addressed by over 30 members covering different parts.

The context of this years count included Slash burning in the local hills, a protest in favor of oil and pipelines on the Nicola river bridge, A service vehicle form the local gas pipeline operation is spiiffed up, Slash fires on the local sidehills, and little river ice and little snow at city levels.

Nicola Naturalists formed in 2010

The Nicola Naturalist Society, formed in 2010, is based in Merritt, BC. Membership is open to anyone interested in nature, wildlife and the health of the local ecosystems. Along with more than 50 other naturalist clubs in British Columbia we are a member of BC Nature (Federation of BC Naturalists). NNS members receive automatic membership to BC Nature, receive the BC Nature quarterly magazine and can participate in all BC Nature camps, meetings and other events.

This years theme of world intellectual property day is,is women’s input into creative innovation., The World organization promotes the creation of intellectual property;

Every day women come up with game-changing inventions and life-enhancing creations that transform lives and advance human understanding from astrophysics to nanotechnology and from medicine to artificial intelligence and robotics.

And in the creative sphere, whether in the movies, animation, music, fashion, design, sculpture, dance, literature, art and more, women are re-imagining culture, testing the limits of artistry and creative expression, drawing us into new worlds of experience and understanding.

The important and inspiring contributions of countless women around the globe are powering change in our world. Their “can do” attitude is an inspiration to us all. And their remarkable achievements are an invaluable legacy for young girls today with aspirations to become the inventors and creators of tomorrow.
