The action is ongoing…

Funny coincidence occurring, an Amazon delivery truck upset on its way to deliver. A truckload of packages was being cleaned up according to Al Clark in Merritt.

No wonder people think there’s a spirit in these things, it’s like a mystery of iniquity that works. We don’t know why but these things kind of come up for reasons that we don’t understand. One thing we know is to stay away from conspiracy thoughts because they’re just not healthy.

How..

Dealing with conspiracy theories can be challenging, but here are some effective strategies: Firstly, approach the conversation with empathy and understanding, as accusations of misinformation can lead to defensiveness. Listen actively to their beliefs and try to understand their perspective. Share credible information from trustworthy sources, as presenting facts can help dismantle false claims. Encourage critical thinking by asking open-ended questions that prompt reflection on the logic and evidence behind their beliefs. It’s also important to set boundaries; if the discussion becomes unproductive or hostile, it’s okay to disengage. Finally, maintain a calm and respectful demeanor, as this can promote more constructive dialogues.

End of the Country: an Opinion

So the RCMP have agreed to a settlement figure for harassment to female staff. A Hundred Million dollars set aside by the Government of Canada to satisfy justice to complainants. Now the CBC is reporting that to make things fair they are opening it up to the male employees of the force to do the same. Those that were denied promotion and could not participate in the more meaningful parts of the job will be able to be involved in a class action settlement as well.
This is in the context of Senate hearings into the force and the most relevant issue, unionization. The Commissioner is on record as saying that safety and staffing details not under his control would interfere with his ability to mange cases. Giving a job steward the ability to grieve a deployment of officers for safety reasons is against his management needs.

POLICE OFFICE AND 50S CRIME MAGAZINES

The RCMP is a para military organization and some of the bonding to those that go far still comes from dress uniforms, mess dinners, esp re deco rps. The tactic of causing wars over eons of time rests in the military handlers to justify action this usually means sympathy which can come using vilification. This is sometimes provoked and size, power, honor and exclusion have a lot to do with the setting of the public and the military against a real or constructed enemy.
So will that management style be involved in the distribution of settlement monies and will it go on to give the Mounties resources to set up new lines of command for the sympathy /power dynamic. A reasonable person does not have to go far to see that a petite officer and a powerful perpetrator create a sympathy imbalance, or a powerful large officer and a construction worker create a sense of equity. So this dynamic is apparently desirable to managing the force in its operations. Will the 100s of millions used to sort it out go into creating the climate once again for internal harassment?
Why can’t the force be unionized, other civil servants go directly to the union when asked to do something wrong by newly elected or deputy’s.
As far as the starry eyes of those motivated by glory, we remember the words, of Sir John French, the commander of the British in the Boar war, ” I would give all my fancy uniforms, my ceremonial swords and my time at court if I could just have my son back.” Sir Johns son was lost to Boar sharpshooters, with dozens of others in an action. The young men were all shot in the left hand side of the head.
It seems to have not been enough as he was once again the commander of the British in the first world war. Sir John was responsible to manage millions of sons and the sympathies to maintain the interest in slaughter.
As to an answer the song writer may still be right, the answer my friend is “blowing in the wind.”
Still and after reform it goes on, so happy thoughts as we get ready for another November 11th with medals and missing limbs.
Can the harassment thing or habituated power dynamics be the end of the Country, you tell me or tell the commissioner to manage civilly with a unionized force.

The teachers from school district 58 were picketing on the 24th, the employer according to a release dated June 5th have also decided to lock them out on three days June 25, 26th and 27th. This is along with a 10 percent cut in pay. The release was published and available on the picket line from striking teachers and outlined what they wanted. A fair deal is their main concern which can be interpreted as a contract. Smaller class sizes and the availability for help for special cases are also on the plate, as well as a pay raise. The public health sector just got a long-term year contract with many of the unions representing them.  The deal is reported to have been ratified.

No contract since June 2013

The local school district BC #58 was picketing on Tuesday at the local high school. A member when asked about the issue first respond to class size , then when asked about  having  a contract currently they said not since June of last year.  Today there are reports of students , walking out because of a feeling of being caught between the parties. A contract may seem a heady term but you can substitute the word agreement which is a term much more desirable when affecting formative young people. It is our opinion that conflict between parties responsible for young people is not desirable and a contract that limits ad hoc activity or confusion and gives security to plan is advantageous to everyone.

In common law legal systems, a contract (or informally known as an agreement in some jurisdictions) is an agreement having a lawful object entered into voluntarily by two or more parties, each of whom intends to create one or more legal obligations between them. The elements of a contract are “offer” and “acceptance” by “competent persons” having legal capacity who exchange “consideration” to create “mutuality of obligation.”[1]

Proof of some or all of these elements may be done in writing, though contracts may be made entirely orally or by conduct. The remedy for breach of contract can be “damages” in the form of compensation of money or specific performance enforced through an injunction. Both of these remedies award the party at loss the “benefit of the bargain” or expectation damages, which are greater than mere reliance damages, as in promissory estoppel. The parties may be natural persons or juristic persons. A contract is a legally enforceable promise or undertaking that something will or will not occur. The word promise can be used as a legal synonym for contract,[2] although care is required as a promise may not have the full standing of a contract, as when it is an agreement without consideration.

Contract law varies greatly from one jurisdiction to another, including differences in common law compared to civil law, the impact of received law, particularly from England in common law countries, and of law codified in regional legislation. Regarding Australian Contract Law for example, there are 40 relevant acts which impact on the interpretation of contract at the Commonwealth (Federal / national) level, and an additional 26 acts at the level of the state of NSW. In addition there are 6 international instruments or conventions which are applicable for international dealings, such as the United Nations  source Wikipedia

Opinion: Two years is a normal window for a contract to be in effect however if a longer one is a reasonable concession to one or another party it may be worthy of consideration, working without a contract does not constitute this.
