Walk of Stars annual gala here in Merritt saw a preamble in the downtown building designated to be the Walk of Stars Country Hall of Honour, included the trio “The Higgins” Canadian they had driven up from the Lower mainland and appeared before the meet and greet of Country Music Television’s Beverly Mahood.
Thier number Dreamers Like Us;images such as trampolines and purple clouds was inspiring, upbeat, and had a lively tempo.
The general demenor of the trio was casual, youthfull ,Canadian and polite,
The setting of downtown Merritt , with the background of a cancelled Merritt Mountain Music Festval, seemed very hopeful as the proposed Country Music Hall of fame is a Canadian Venue. The youth and energy was very approprate for the listeners….
The number dreamers like us is in their new album being released June 8 th , look for it they say at Wall Mart and London Drugs.

Canadian Trio From British Columbia

Rates for seeing ***** five stars. excellent for this Venue

Herbicides

spray for broad leaf
They are applying herbicides here for broadleaf weeds (dandelion) some people concerned both ways.

By the by there was a film shown here, admission by donation on Tuesday evening: awakening the Skeena. the river is a major BC river touting First Nations sacred status The website had a propaganda warning on it and it followed by a conference; Fraser River Conservation something, a source says that the group had secured 10 million dollars from the Federal Government some years ago to do some conservation work on rivers. That funding gone, the group was looking for more, the Royal Dutch Shell Company coal bed methane permits that came under a four-year moratorium, seems to overtly been credited to them. No word on whether they were successful in securing more. One thing certain the gal that swam the Skeena River to bring awareness got more than wet . Propaganda a side its ironic that the broadleaf spray happened in the same context as the film and conference.

Rodeo over

300

Indian cowboys

“North Americas richest wild card rodeo”, finished Sunday with events canceled Monday due to cash crunch, all the people I talked to liked the event as they had good horses and bulls. No one seemed disappointed although attendance deemed low, for the singing stars..
I went to one of the three exchange s to the freeway Monday and counted 35 vehicles a minute or 2100 an hour, that’s a lot of cars going by. Maybe advertising was in-house and local posters. Comments from a person that helped supply horses from North Dakota ( horses from Lac la Biche Alberta) said the event should have been a jackpot event on the last day meaning the profits go to last day prizes.

sleepers

German travelers on a real adventure!

This bus from last season is fitted with sleepers like morgue slabs a little confining for my taste however the end may prove the means for the people who came all that way and going all that way. None seen as yet this year we wonder if it was new or untried and whether they will return.
