Fran Mcmurchy and others are having a combined showing in the local Old Court House Gallery. The show begins with an artists reception on Friday, the 20th from 4 to 7.

The local artist community has a couple of venues in this small British Columbia town including the Secret Door showing that is becoming a monthly event in Merritt. The Secret Door shows at Brambles Bakery across from the Q101 FM station on the historic Quilchena Avenue in the cities downtown.

The Secret Door Show begins on February 3rd and is a single presenter.
Merritt’s history compresses into a short time after serious european contact in the last half of the 18 hundreds. Seven hundred locals strived to keep up with world events into the 20th century and were successful in integrating cultures into the fray.

First Nations culture is also rich and can be seen in many attractions and showings as well.
The Old Court House Gallery is open to new members to drive content. Jackie the director can be found at the gallery most weekends Thursday through Saturday 12 to 6 PM.
The Court House Gallery showing is called Elements, other presenters include Helmut Kanduth and Gale Simpson.

Guard your health it has nothing to do with luck or fortune, it has to do with diligence and attitude.

If you’ve been diagnosed with breast cancer, your doctor will review your pathology report and results of any imaging tests to understand the specifics of your tumor.

Using a tissue sample from your breast biopsy or using your tumor if you’ve already undergone surgery, your medical team determines your breast cancer type. This information helps your doctor decide which treatment options are most appropriate for you. Our friend Bob passed from this life on December 5th in his one hundredth year. He had danced on a table cloth on the floor at the Florentine, assisted living home, last May for his birthday (a concession from a vow, no table). Bob served in the Commonwealth Air Training Plan in the second war and was one of the Craigmont mine managers.

The mine operated in Merritt from the 1960s to recently and produced a billion lbs of copper, and supplied magnetite to coal operations in Alberta after underground operations ceased.

Bob was a man of integrity and fairness and enjoyed a long career in the mining biz and was active in the Public libraries programs, attending lectures last November. He was a contributor  to the well-being of the community here and the world. KDG

No pipeline through the Great Bear Rainforest, a definitive decision. Success to many.

The Burnaby from Edmonton approved expansion will see one medium tanker a day every day. One tanker a day should be safer then the possibility of collision. Some diligent people will need to secure the confidence of Vancouver people.

One hundred and fifty seven conditions came out of consultations on the approval of Trans Mountain’s expansion and some conditions by the province need to be met.

The Government is probably interested in carbon schemes .(to help pay for the fiduciary duty to people)
Editors note: Bad faith must be avoided!
When permits are let there must be a reasonable expectation of completion for the risk taken. Permits were let and a 63 year operation with a proven track record and a good community record is not valued enough. We lose something in this.

Trans Mountain’s operation effects us all; what did they expect to happen when permiting the original development. What do you expect when hiring someone…. This is Us not Them!

Keep up the scrutiny….
