The trade agreement once called the North American Free trade agreement. Renewal is still a year away, and these tariffs would be illegal under that present trade agreement.
Dispute settling mechanism
The three countries in the trade agreement also have a dispute settling mechanism with the program. Between this and the US Senate, we have every confidence that these things may become reasonable as far as it relates to bonafide issues such as countervailing subsidies, anti-dumping, sanctions for cause. However It’s a scary announcement. Good luck!.
