BC Cabinet, Wednesday charm.

Teams are won and will win when working together for a common cause  that is worthy of suffering. That may include personal glory for public good.

The newly elected tedious majority government has appointed a cabinet. Premier David EBY has made his choices and they’ve been proclaimed and published. Now it looks pretty good. Former policeman Begg is in charge of the province’s perspective on public safety. 

Many competent people in not only the government but the loyal opposition whose job it is to provide  reasonable alternatives to policies.

New accountant

The chartered accounting firm that has been a mainstay of local business here in Merritt has a new owner, but same location. The 1900 block  Quilchena avenue, upstairs office was for decades, Best ,Reimer and Maclean. It was sold to Alistair Murdock from Victoria , Murdoch has operated the business for about ten years and gained the confidence of the community, he is  a two term and sitting  city councillor.  Murdoch has sold the firm to Carrie Ware and company. Carrie  said the Alistair is going into semi retirement , and has bought a company in Kamloops, a community of about 80,000 an hours drive from here.

No word on whether Murdoch will serve out his term on council.

Five year anniversary

The local transit society had a gathering to celebrate 5 years in Merritt. The society operates two buses.  The buses  serve Merritt and Lower Nicola . An official said they started with a rider ship of 1500 a month and now have 4600. Steve Harwood an official from Victoria introduced Alastair Murdock a councilor and a chartered accountant.Alastair did a lot of the work getting transit to Merritt.È We started with volunteers for the first 6 months. He may have refered to transit that was run by Community futures before they secured BC transit. BC transit is a unionised province wide system

A rider can have a trip around Merritt and out to Lower Nicola for $1.50.

Cake and coffee were served to about 30 people.

There were 5 tour buses out of Victoria parked this week across form the Canadian tire outlet.  They buses touted Bio fuels on their sides. When asked a driver said that they operate on bio fuels made from soybeans. They have a supplier in Victoria that produces it from beans that he thinks are grown in the US.

Where ever they come from the buses run on a mixture of 90 percent bio and 10 percent diesel fuel.
