Merit of Merritt

Its good that it is friday….

Helicopter training is going on at an IBEW safety meeting this morning at the Coldwater Hotel. A source says its a five hour course facilitated by a teacher.

The power point shows multiple types of large helicopters including sky crane.

A source says that the transmission towers in the new 500 KV line are heavier then earlier ones used.

An source working  for the construction of the new hydro substation here in Merritt says that a 230 KV line is also going to Mamette lake to another substation in the highland valley. They were marking out targets for underground cables to cross the road on Voght street next to the old Days Inn site that was demolished and recycled last year.

Mamette lake is about 20 minutes from Merritt on highway 97 C  to Logan Lake BC.

TGIF the price of coffee

Merit of Merritt

Its good that it is friday….

The Merritt Desert Inn was charging $2.09 for a cup of coffee during the short lived HST regime in BC. There was a backlash as restaurants were on a level playing field with the value added tax. The tax is gone and the PST took its place and is not charged on restaurant meals. This morning a coffee cost $2:15 with 10 cents in for the federal value added tax the GST,

Another chargeing station

Some electric vehicle buffs were at the Voght street charge station  and told us that there is another recent addition to the grid here in Merritt BC, Ca. This one is up the hill in the new area of highway development and about the big box stores.

Sun country sells chargers and accessories from home to commercial. They range from 25 amp to 90 amp. A source says that the 10 minute chargers in Texas  can hurt the battery in your car if used regularly.

There seems to be a preference for the 90 amp charger on Voght street here in Merritt.

An adapter to the proprietary Sun country charger was in use here this week at the Vought street charger by a Sun Country rep  ” its proprietary like apple” he said.
