Herbicides

spray for broad leaf
They are applying herbicides here for broadleaf weeds (dandelion) some people concerned both ways.

By the by there was a film shown here, admission by donation on Tuesday evening: awakening the Skeena. the river is a major BC river touting First Nations sacred status The website had a propaganda warning on it and it followed by a conference; Fraser River Conservation something, a source says that the group had secured 10 million dollars from the Federal Government some years ago to do some conservation work on rivers. That funding gone, the group was looking for more, the Royal Dutch Shell Company coal bed methane permits that came under a four-year moratorium, seems to overtly been credited to them. No word on whether they were successful in securing more. One thing certain the gal that swam the Skeena River to bring awareness got more than wet . Propaganda a side its ironic that the broadleaf spray happened in the same context as the film and conference.

Murder, alleged

This file photo is from a murder in the park of a young man some time ago. Another murder reported on the radio today. Occurring Friday the 21 of May a woman charged with the stabbing death of her husband. This is sad and tells a tale of misdirected lives.

camers high tech, low tech

low tech,
This file picture from last year shows a low tech fingerprint collection. The collection is going on within 50 feet of new red light cameras installed with new street lights. The crooks had pushed the safe out of the building and abandoned it in the middle of the night. And sidewalk. Low tech criminals involved? They may have tought that with all the debit and credit card transactions their heavy labour may not have been worth the effort or risk.
The low tech policing in front of the new cameras seems exaggerated. To any that care. Since the Province had begun a pilot project in 5 communities to see if cameras in downtown cores relived the crime rate, and here was not one of them.
No one caught as yet ,that we are aware of; one might wonder how much time the police are spending.
The new coalition government in England has recently promised to oust camera surveillance to some degree there. A good balance to the artificial creation of life in the papers, reported by the Vancouver Sun. Life from DNA recipes activated from recipes stored in researchers computers.
The curse of” may you live in interesting times” seems is getting more and more credibility.

Fish

    gold fish

Fish ponds are becoming popular here and with plants and other rock work attractive. No word on whether it adds to the resale value of homes. Its common for swimming pools to take away from the resale value of homes. However a cooling fish pond, with mosquito larve eating gold-fish/koi make for a pleasant yard. If you build one you can place a pump with a waterfall that muffels traffic noise especially if you plan it to a back bedroom window , some say the sound of running water is soothing .
