Model airplanes

There  is an interest in powered Model flight here. A fellow and his son were in Voght park on Sunday flying a gas-powered radio controlled plane. Looks like fun. He says he belongs to a club in Logan lake a small community about an hour away. His rig cost him about 500 dollars and has others. Club membership comes with liability insurance for licensed areas. A program called phoenix is an online simulator program to qualify you for radio control. He had crashes before using it. As did others. One thing in particular you need to master is that the control is actuated backward when the model is returning from the direction sent.

It looks like fun and a hobby that must account for others like Paintball, which he is also credentialed in. Good luck and blue skies to the people in Merritt that will pursue this.

An 80 dollar insurance package and training is available to people that want to try it with out membership an unconfirmed sources says..

The Sport of Geo Caching begins!

This area in the south central part of British Columbia has a lot to offer campers one of the local chamber themes still regarded was a lake a day as long as you stay. There are two RV parks in town one accommodates 44 RVs and some tenting.Fully serviced with showers and services, including golf discounts.. The other is competitive.

The manager of the one on Voght street says that the May long-weekend they are not full usually as people go to local lakes and are free of traffic and enjoy space with fewer people. The forestry maintains campsites at some lakes and there are commercial parks at some as well. The province keeps one public access road into all lakes for public enjoyment. Fishing is regulated and licenses required however there is a holiday on Fathers day from licensing each year to this point.

Close all gates that you find closed and you should not come into trouble with the ranching community.Watch for infectious weed warnings and the price of your big mac is safe.Take all garbage out or use provided cans and you will be a class one responsible camper….

Camp fires have been regulated down to smaller sizes and some preparation required. Here is another source:

New Osprey Pole

A new 45  foot hydro pole was placed about 100 meters from the pole that housed two productive Osprey last year. The returning preditorial birds were upstaged by   Canada Geese that took over their nest.No hostility was observed and the Osprey were seen flying with two mature Bald Eagles as well.

The birds make a sharp snapping sound as they fly by the top of cottonwood trees and take branches for nesting. They are one again at work building a nest on the new diversion pole a provided the nest they were building on the power poles has been removed and it seems wisely they are allowing the birds to make a new nest  at their convience and plan.
