In the US, Canada, and Central and South America, this rare Total Lunar Eclipse of a Supermoon will begin on the evening of September 27, 2015. In Europe, South/East Asia, Africa, the Arctic, and in the Pacific, Atlantic, and Indian Oceans it starts after midnight on September 28, 2015.
Also called a Blood Moon this eclipse will last for about 1 hour and 12 minutes.
Carpets being cleaned of glass after an alleged break in Photo KDG
Vandalism at the Merritt Public library on the weekend caused a delayed opening on Tuesday. The library that is normally open at 10 Pm every Tuesday morning stayed closed for most of the morning to accommodate a clean up of broken glass and removal of remaining glass in the window frame on the north side of the building. The Vandalism also resulted in a theft with the front door of a video player being broken open and electronic games taken. A source says that the electronics were recovered.
A source with a glass company attending the scene said calls to the library are down since they removed landscape rocks from the property. “we must have been here about 8 times in the past.” The library was built in the 1990s taking the area of the out of service train station, and moving from a building in the 2000 block of Granite avenue.
The library just received new carpet a few months ago.
Update: Electronics taken, a play station 3 and an I pad for children’s use are said to be in the hands of the Mounties, the I pad was said to have been found outside the building and the play station in custody is presumed to have left the property. The I pad is talked about having had blood on it.

We tried the cold drink for a dollar offered at Mc Ds today, and for the whole summer YOU can have a cold type iced drink for a dollar. We tried a mcafe carmel iced coffe small or large for a dollar and 5 cents roued off Tax. The server said we had an option to have a large for a dollar and 3 quarters plus taxes. A police cruiser was seen behind a hedge on the 17th, when asked the officer was watching for cell phone use. Being behind a hedge may be a shock to those caught unawares but it is not entrapment.

It appears that the summer driving season is here as the price of a liter of gasoline went to $1.22.9 from $1.14.9 this week. Prices are usually in effect from May to September however oil retailers are not slouches it seems that the demand that brings prices up is softened for holiday weekends to encourage people not to stay home. A source says that the price went up 8 cents in two events on the 3rd and that gas prices in the lower mainland are $1.40 or better and should drive these interior prices higher. `The source also doubts that long weekend demand will bring the price down to capture that market. Paul Witt a long time resident of the Nicola Valley says that this apartment building next to Voght Park in Merritt was known as the ” Trans Mountain” and may have been built for the construction of the pipeline.
The City of Spruce Grove and the Trans Mountain Expansion Project have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding for a Community Benefit Agreement that will see a $200,000 contribution toward funding enhancements to Jubilee Park. Trans Mountain has been pursuing Community Benefit Agreements with those along the pipeline corridor to provide direct benefits to communities if the proposed expansion project is approved and constructed. “We are extremely excited about entering into this Memorandum of Understanding with the Trans Mountain Expansion Project and thank them for their commitment to providing benefits to the communities they work in,” said Spruce Grove mayor, Stuart Houston. “Jubilee Park is enjoyed by thousands of people each year and the ability to enhance the park through a partnership such as this further adds the quality of living we all enjoy in Spruce Grove.” “We are committed to working with the communities we operate in to maximize the benefits of the Project,” said Ian Anderson, President of Kinder Morgan Canada. “This agreement will provide local and direct benefits to the people and City of Spruce Grove. We all appreciate the outdoors and are happy to be able to provide funding toward enhancing local parks.” Kinder Morgan values the relationships it has with the communities along its existing pipeline system and the proposed pipeline project; these span over more than 60 years of history. This agreement was signed as part of an overall effort underway by Kinder Morgan Canada to work with pipeline-affected communities to identify local opportunities to give something back in recognition of the public inconveniences and temporary disruption created by construction of the proposed expansion. Additional agreements with municipalities and communities along the pipeline corridor are expected as project planning continues.
Merritt received a grant from Trans Mountain to build trails for hiking in the area. The 60 year operation of the Trans Mountain Pipeline here produced one permanent job that was automated decades ago. Construction jobs can be permanent but move on project to project requiring public relations and cooperation to keep their impact reasonable and safe.

The public works are having a show and tell of composting at the local works yard on May 23, from 11 -2. There is a seminar of about one half hour at 11 am and one PM .
Some different composting tools are for sale including a digesting cone for one hundred dollars.
Various conservation method are promoted by government and non government organizations from time to time here in Merritt, including zero scape landscaping.

A sparrow was sitting on the pavement a the start of the week, it was very still and quite it did not respond to my presence however it when move with the side of my foot it would flutter its wing it seemed content to stay and brood on the pavement.

The bird and I parted company without any trauma and I enjoyed the closeness and sense of connection for as long as it lasted.
