The Swedish wonder kid come sailor and activist is one of the Icons being promoted today in a world moment for climate action. Greta Thunberg and other youth, more that a million school kids off in New York are busy pressing their point today as a world wide effort.

150 countries

A hundred and fifty countries are engaged in in todays strike for climate action. The goal is fossil fuels awareness and coal and oil the center of opinion.

Childhood stress an issue

Children are being reported as under stress over climate issues and today may be a peaceful empowerment.

Impact large

Just the New York School District has 1700 schools with a 25 billion dollar budget. Add that to 150 countries their is impact.

The fact that adults are obligated to be responsible and kids should feel secure in a responsible world makes for the abstaining by school teachers…

According to the UBCM Hydro has applied to its regulator to have new rates for electrification of vehicles.

The British Columbia Utilities Commission (BCUC) is currently reviewing BC Hydro’s Fleet Electrification Application, which seeks approval of new rates for two new services with the goal of encouraging fleet electrification. This application may be of interest to local governments with EV fleets

Three days of games and displays…

The Chamber of Commerce hosted loggers sports for National Forest week on Friday though Sunday, September 13th-16th. Loggers skills, show and shine and 6 performances of the laughing logger along with games gave a sense of the scope of logging in the Nicola Valley.

The local government bunch at the UBCM is having an emphasis on oil transportation by rail.

Representatives from the federal Fund for Railway Accidents Involving Designated Goods will be attending the 2019 UBCM Convention, and are seeking to provide information about the Fund to communities located near a railway.
Following the 2013 derailment in Lac-Mégantic, the federal government strengthened the liability and compensation regime for rail accidents involving crude oil. This led to the Fund for Railway Accidents Involving Designated Goods being established in 2016, under the Canada Transportation Act. The compensation regime is based on the principle that federally regulated railways carrying crude oil are strictly liable for damages
