The local A and W fast food outlet has a new snack! Chubby Chicken piece in a roll. It has a very tasty sauce.
The restaurant has free coffee refills to 11 am and a special on apple turnovers.
The Chicken piece is attractive and stimulates taste buds in a pleasurable way!

There is serious rain here to-day. That is serious to us. In the 1960s we had less than 10 inches a year. Semi desert. In recent years we have 12 . Still we are part of the Great Eastern Desert Basin, it includes south central BC and eastern Washington State.
Two nights ago we had strong winds always a sign that coastal weather is on its way up. The local police station is under going roof repairs with new sheeting being applied over fading colored metal sheathing.
Editors note:We have no idea the feeling and sence of the east coast after Sandy. But have confidence in the citizens and applaud the decision of the marathon to run and help at the same time.
We feel that unless a piece of plywood is neglected and blows off the police station we are in little danger from the elements. ( thats on the balance of probabilities )

At 4 pm today there is a placement assessment for training in the mining industry at the local first nations run community college NVIT.
20 odd candidates to work in the mining industry are takeing a text comprehension test to determine if signage could be fully understood if working around mining equipment.
The ad in the foyer says 4 pM.

Karen Blain the Kamloops coördinator of the NITEP program that’s the program that since 1974 has assisted nearly 400 first nation teachers to get degrees through the University of British Columbia and its affiliates. They are intending a joint field office here in September 2013 . She says that the degree program has reduced credits required by the BC College of Teachers standards to 151 credits from 174. Meaning that 3 years in a field location such as the September combining of Thompson Rivers and Nicola Valley Institute of Technology and then a year at the university campus with a 3 week practicum will get you a teaching degree that can be used anywhere in the Province.
About a 15 people attended the presentation mostly administrators some interested in teaching degrees with a cultural dimension.

A couple of representatives of a heavy equipment operation training business are about the local Community College NVIT. Shawn Bonnough an instructor with Velocity Training http://www.YourInspirationalTraining.com . is here.
Shawn says that he can make a client able to run a heavy dozer in 4 weeks. He adds that the finished student has no experience in operation only competency in knowledge of its operation and safety. They say they have their school in Alberta and list on their website an Osoyoos, British Columbia address.
In a short interview he expressed confidence in a train the trainer program for baby boomers, as being a proper choice for older experienced clients.
NVIT is a local First Nations run school who have hosted recruiters like Flatrion Graham, the partnership that has a share of the 3rd ,500 KV line now under construction to the Lower Mainland from the Revelstoke Dam.
The hosting is limited to supplying a room and advertising the activity at the front entrance.For recruiters like Flatrion Graham ,according to a source,the Velocity people had an appointment with a the dean.
The interview we had was in the waiting area of the foyer at NVIT and was ended when the gentlemen were called to a meeting.
A search of the Better Business Bureau in Osoyoos came up as:

A search without location gets us a High Velocity Training ,201-5061 50 St, Camrose, AB T4V 1R3 showing a no rating status which means that the BBB has no information, that includes no significant government actions involving them. No advertising complaints. The BBB have a file on the company for 3 years with no complaints in the 3 years or last 12 months that are open.
Velocity Training may be to new to have any BBB activity.
The HighVelocity Training website talks about the Enbridge project. The project is yet not approved. It is suggested as being a catalyst for need of equipment operators.
The June 2012 publication of Aboriginal Market Places reports a contracting of Velocity inc in Osoyoos with High Velocity Training in Camrose Alberta.
It appears that they are trying to accommodate aboriginal aspiration to manage their own people by supplying training leading them to be trainers.

An American photographer takes a picture of a rising moon and it becomes the most famous photo ever taken.
There was an information public meeting last night at the Civic Center here. Kinder Morgan was displaying the wares of its pipeline Company Trans Mountain Pipeline Company. The operation is in a process to get permits from the NEP The National Energy Board, that’s the regulator that recommends to The Federal Cabinet on energy matters. The open house was about its activities to twin its 61 year old line from Edmonton to Burnaby. An upgrade its dock facility as well.
The purpose of the evening was for discussions and they say that all statements will be in consideration for its final application for permits.

Trans Mountain has operated out of Merritt one pumping station with no significant trouble in the 60 years of its delivering oil to the major population center of the Lower Mainland of British Columbia.
A timeline was in the publication material showing where they are now and when construction would start. A full year of discussion remains before the application is submitted and then 2 years of scrutiny with it being in the hands of the regulators.
A pair of consultants also had meetings with city officials and the board of Community Futures Development a high risk lender for economic development and an arms length facilitator of the Federal Government.
The company also delivers refined gasoline products to central BC. PP

A British person au pair Louise Woodward is sentenced to life in prison after being convicted of second degree murder the day before by a Massachusetts jury.
The public library is having an open experiment. There are three plants on the counter and they are all treated the same except one is being watered with water that was microwaved. The plants are in their fourth week of the experiment today and they seem about the same all green and lively. The study is a double controlled and blind and is to prove a thesis that microwaved water hurts plants.
The Study runs for 2 months.

The United States approves a billion dollars of lend lease aid to Canada and Britain.
The United States is having a general election. Half of the Congress and half the Senate will be up on the ballot along with the office of the President. Numbers of State Governors will also be elected.
The United States is always in election mode and it starts again shortly after the November results to choose mid-term senators and congress people in two years.
An old gentlemen is at the local college library here pushing a cart and arranging an absentee ballot to be faxed to friends in the US for the November count.
Another lady here is a dual citizen born in Canada she was educated in the US joined the Canadian Navy and then attached to the US Navy and served as a nurse on the USS Hope a hospital ship. She was working on the hope as it did humanitarian work of the coast of Africa. She can vote absentee as well she said she would have a notary endorses a ballot she could sent in. She said the notary does not charge for this service.
The US take electing officials very serious and we in Canada should as well as military power is transferred often and broadly in these events.
