Bicycle patrol

The weather is great for bikes now and I talked to an unconfirmed source that said there may be a police bike patrol this summer, and that there was non last summer. A source also said that she had spent a year on a bike patrol and did not feel more at risk or unsafe on that form of policing.

A look at the highway interchange early this AM seeing a few less trucks about a hundred an hour a little different then the Sunday afternoon count of 12o.  Of interest is the seemingly large portion of auto carriers on their way. In the recent months earlier they were not as clearly standing out a ; we had talked to the drivers of some trucks hauling scrap to places like Richmond Steel and it was also seen as busier. Scrap goes to durable good s that are an indicator of economic strength. So it may be a good time for the police to be considering a bike patrol about town to promote green while being available to keep the peace. A full-sized patrol car s a good reminder for trucks on the highway that safety is the main goal at the end of the day.

Last week a driver lost his life in a fiery accident under a overpass on the Freeway.

Go fish BC

The Society formed in 2002 now stocks all lakes in British Columbia with game fish.A source says that 52 % of the licence fee to game fish goes to funding the society.

Some lakes do not have good spawning beds or outflows inflows of water so they are stocked with sterile fish and all their makeup goe to producing weight rather then eggs. Sixty to 100 thousand live fish are carried in one of their trucks and are matched to water temperature  to relief stress on release. One truck crew I talked to was on its way to the Bridge river area to stock lakes yesterday.

One of the chamber themes here is a lake a day as long as you stay and the worker said they do a lot of stocking here.

Who owns the lake?

A local paper is saying that the Douglas lake cattle company is claiming ownership to  lakes again.

We say that he issue is one of access and fish that the ranch pays for in stocking the lake. The law in Canada was that there can be no private owner ship of property in the riparian area of lakes that they are public access. That included docks and found property for you beachcombers. the government supplies one public access road to most lakes.

On private land you can get a fish pond licence for a small body of water that you construct. yourself if you have the water rights to any source you use or interfere with.

Salmon and mini lakes are developed and a great place to fish and relax. We hope that resolution to this irritant is forthcoming.

Dyke

The city dyke on Voght Street is very visible and the water only briefly lapped at it earlier this week.

Rain seems not to have effected the river as the dam let a lot go last week when the dyke was tested. A local ready mix supplied the sand  the poly procured from a unknown source . However the paid firemen and forestry fireman did the installation. There was no clear emergency  however some flood warnings were posted in recent weeks. Cool weather with some rain also is contributing to less run off.

The first World Ocean Day celebrated.

About twenty fire fighters, are taking an investigation certification course at the local community college today. They will become credible witness’s to court cases involving insurance companies and criminal proceedings involving prosecutions.

The 4 and a half day of training gives the participants a level 2 certification for civil not criminal investigations another 4 1/2 would give them  level one and a credible witness in a criminal proceeding.

One of the participants said he was looking forward to making determinations.

Those  would have to stand in prosecutions and recovery actions for costs with insurance companies. We think that when loss rears its head it is competence and fairness that needs  to prevail.

Slave Lake Aberta

There was a forest fire in Slave Lake Alberta in recent weeks, the fire destroyed a good portion of the town. Yesterday 20 B.C fire fighters on loan to the fire situation there returned here. One said that there is still ongoing hazards there as well as the Fort Murray area.

Fire fighters are regularly loaned to other jurisdictions when hazards are high….

Ehrhoff and Rome an opinion

It was good to see the two hockey players back in the game last evening. The win at the last moment was thrilling.

There was an evangelical calling for the end of the world to end on May 21, one day after the follow up of the legally required census here in Canada. When Ronald Regan was elected in 1980 the fringe said  that he was doomed as all presidents elected in a zero year have died in office. A similar dynamic to date pickers for the return of the good lord. Any serious theologian realizes that the imminent return of the lord is just that, imminent and made to remain that way for compliance to human rights and conditions by those that would abuse those things.

You can still meet your maker at any time crossing the street or in your bathtub slip and fall. However when Christian Ehrhoff and Aron Rome where taken out of the Canucks line up in the Western final,  I quipped about them being raptured out to make way for Armageddon and that must be the Stanley cup final.

We can have fun with that, it was just a coincidence ,however Revenue Canada is and the bankruptcy people are fond of using 666 and 007 in there scrutiny of assets. And the census date was a bit of a stretch.

Remember World War One was touted as being that war to end all wars by reasonable people. and things can easily get out of hand in the superstition realm. However they are back and playing well and the poetic remains as well as the former Governor General,  Lord Stanley, the initiator of the NHL’s prized cup with his name on it”s admonition .:” That it be enjoyed by all colors, creeds and customs for all time” as he dedicated another work the 1000 acres of park in the  City of Vancouver.   We can assume the same sentiment apples.

Superstition exists and it is a binding thing not helpful in the enjoyment of life, it has no place in hockey or work life as it is fear based. That is  something the charter of rights and freedoms restrains credible entities such as government from employing. No you didn’t do anything wrong to cause a loss unless it relates directly to the ability to perform ,like negligence of a duty that people rely on.

Improve your luck, look both ways crossing the street to Rogers Arena, and cheer the team on  giving emotional support to a team that is less dependant on it then preceding ones , they are champions.

The 7 game contests in  the finals is enough of an exposure to degrade to the mean all of the random inputs and luck to the standard of the skill in the teams. The Stanley cup is up for its 95th awarding since it went pro in 1914/15. It was not awarded in 1919 because of the spanish flu and 2005  because of a players lockout dispute, that was unlucky, however it has degraded to the mean  of being a much wanted symbol of hockey excellence;over time….

Light emiting diode

LED technology is tremendously efficient use of electricity, its best application is for items on all the time. the initial cost is high but over time it will pay for its self especially in the application of things on all the time, like exit signs . The entrance sign at the local hospital is being looked at for LED lighting, something the authorities like to promote on the green agenda. The neon ballasts are burnt out at this point and need attention.
