With respect to the family, friends , colleagues of Nelson Mandela we offer our condolences to the one who according to US President and guardian of democratic freedom Barack Obama ” has joined the ages”.

A quiet spirit and a pragmatic soul has left us to our own ends we hope that the world will build on his legacy as it is far from perfect and a lesson in starting and allowing others to have a part in liberty. KDG

Community futures

There has been a Local presence of a federal government facilitator here for a several years. The Nicola Vally Community Futures Society. They started in an obscure rented office on Granite avenue next to the cable providers studio, over two decades ago. A surge in their relevance came some time after when getting Western Canadian Diversification into their portfolio. That is a federal government department that helped get industry to diversify into the western provinces for the industrial heartland of Ontario and Quebec. The organization purchased the Bank of Montreal building on Quilchena Avenue and set up a bigger presence. The society had elected locals and was succesful in many ventures. They had a big influence on the Merritt Mountain Music Festival.

The organization has reorganized and according to board member Rick Isbister are renting a place in the Old Chamber of Commerce office under City hall on Voght Street.

The branch of the Bank of Montreal transferd most of their accounts to The Local Credit Union.Their old building is shared now by Work BC ( the provincal government and Community Futures N=Thompson Valley.

Work a day

Little excitment about here today after the US Election but a sence that it means that the agenda continues and work a day style will also continue as well.

A college teacher was talking about high standards of completion of assignments being required by schools.

Some talk of the dynamics of the Republican controlled house on the agenda but no expectation of dysfunction from the US by regular people.

Baring some child playing with it we remind you readers that discharging a fire arm in City limits is illegal and a wounded bear can be more dangerous then a healthy one with a clear path of escape.
