Art walk

The local art community is having an art walk through July with over 20 stations art is positioned about this small community and available for enjoyment or buy. One of the locations is at the Merritt Desert Inn and a very attractive guide was produced showing the walk. You may also join the tour by a foot print in the window and an Art Walk  number. The number of the down town tourist info center in their window is 22.

Artists include Bev Veale, Dianne Kernan and twenty others.

An Elvis tribute artist was in the Desert Inn on the weekend . An unconfirmed source says that his daughter a tribute artist that does Patsy Cline was entertaining over the weekend at the hotel on Voght Street Merritt .

Randy is said to be here twice a year, there is an Elvis Society in Merritt and the Desert Inn has a unique licensed mural of the dead singer on its westerly wall.

Randy came to some prominence and good will in the Expo 86 worlds fair in Vancouver.

Editors note: the use of minors in commercial activities has some challenges and is not viewed by all as acceptable. Young protegé need at least the protection of independent agents and their exposure to possibly exploitive conditions should not include a loss of ability to receive a proper primary and secondary education.

This is usually a problem when serious fame or money becomes involved, remember social capital is a real value, however there is a possible  negative effect on the young persons social capital if it is widely viewed as an exploitive lifestyle to up-and coming mentored persons.

On February the 2nd at the Merritt Desert Inn a variety show by some of the cast of the popular and long running TV sit com Trailer Park Boys will perform.

Admission is 25 dollars and there is a limited amount of space.  The Merritt Desert Inn, is owned and operated by Melba White and her  aged father Norman. They have been key in hosting events around celebrities for the Mountain Music Festival.

The Merritt Desert Inn is a small hotel we estimate that no more then 200 people could see the performance in the pub and the tickets are being presold.

Show time 9:00 PM open doors for 7:00 PM

Fools moon

There is a big full moon in a big cold sky here tonight.A person that works at the Desert Inn says that it is not full and it is a fools moon. On looking closer it does seem to not be completely round with a sliver off the south east quadrant.

There is a full moon every 28 days and at one time Greek city states had a 13 month 28 day calender. the dynamic of upmanship with Julius Caesar and  his 31 day month and his nephew Augustus have had there way over time and Easter is  different as the calender coördinates the Sunday with the resurrection moon of 33 AD.

We hope you all get at least Woody Allen‘s Due of 15 minutes of fame, and don”t have to pay the price for it as the Caesars did.
