Merritt Transportation…

The Merritt Transportation system is a boon to riders…

Open door to enhanced mobility….

Based on the information I found, here’s what I can tell you about Merritt, British Columbia’s bus transportation services:
* Merritt Transit System:
   * Merritt’s local transit is operated in partnership with BC Transit.
   * The city utilizes light-duty buses to provide service within the area.
   * Information shows that there has been efforts to improve the reliability of the local transit, including adding to the bus fleet.
   * You can find detailed schedules and route information through resources like the Transit app or the BC Transit website.
   * The City of Merritt website also provides information about the local transit system.
* Key Information:
   * The Nicola Valley Transportation Society is involved with the Merritt Transit System.
   * For direct information, you can contact the Merritt Transit Office at City Hall.
   * There are also intercity bus services, such as Rider Express, that serve Merritt, providing connections to other destinations.
* Where to find information:
   * City of Merritt Website: This is a good source for local transit information.
   * BC Transit Website: Provides schedules and route details.
   * Transit App: provides real time information for bus routes.
   * Rider Express website: for information on intercity travel.
I hope this helps.

Osteoarthritis.

You’re not alone…

It’s important to understand osteoarthritis (OA), its impact, and how it’s managed. Here’s a breakdown:
What is Osteoarthritis?
* Osteoarthritis is the most common form of arthritis. It’s a degenerative joint disease that primarily affects the cartilage, the smooth, cushioning tissue that covers the ends of bones within a joint.
* Over time, OA causes the cartilage to break down, leading to pain, stiffness, swelling, and reduced joint movement.
* It can affect any joint, but it most commonly affects the knees, hips, hands, and spine.
How Osteoarthritis Disables People:
* Pain: Chronic pain is a hallmark symptom, significantly impacting daily activities.
* Stiffness: Joints become stiff, especially after periods of inactivity, making it difficult to move.
* Reduced Mobility: Pain and stiffness limit range of motion, affecting walking, climbing stairs, and other essential movements.
* Functional Limitations: OA can make it challenging to perform everyday tasks, such as dressing, cooking, and working.
* Impact on Quality of Life: The chronic pain and functional limitations associated with OA can lead to emotional distress, including depression and anxiety.
Osteoarthritis in Canada:
* Osteoarthritis is a significant health concern in Canada. According to information available:
   * It is one of the most common chronic conditions affecting Canadians.
   * The prevalence of OA increases with age.
   * It is a major cause of disability in Canada.
* To get very precise up to the minute figures, I would recommend checking the statistics Canada website.
Is Osteoarthritis Curable?
* Unfortunately, there is currently no cure for osteoarthritis. The damage to cartilage is generally irreversible.
Is Osteoarthritis Manageable?
* Yes, osteoarthritis is manageable. Treatment focuses on relieving pain, improving joint function, and slowing the progression of the disease. Management strategies include:
   * Lifestyle Modifications:
     * Weight management: Losing weight can reduce stress on joints.
     * Exercise: Regular low-impact exercise, such as walking, swimming, or cycling, can strengthen muscles and improve joint flexibility.
     * Physical therapy: can help improve range of motion and strength.
   * Medications:
     * Pain relievers (e.g., acetaminophen, NSAIDs).
     * Topical creams or gels.
     * Injections (e.g., corticosteroids, hyaluronic acid).
   * Assistive Devices:
     * Canes, walkers, and braces can provide support and reduce stress on joints.
   * Surgery:
     * In severe cases, joint replacement surgery may be necessary.
In summary, while OA is a chronic condition, a combination of lifestyle changes, medication, and other therapies can help people manage their symptoms and maintain a good quality of life.

Thankful Thursday

Today I’m thankful for the many things that have helped get me through my first two lymphoma treatments that have caused side effects each time and many trips to the doctor’s office for bloodwork, but on the good days I remember what it’s like to feel good again. I’m very grateful for my niece’s fabulous […]

Full Spectrum Light

Nicola Avenue Merritt lit up for after pavement and traffic island redo.

Seasonal Affective Disorder is a condition that is like what its anachronism implies SAD . A low feeling of mood contributed by less light in winter or more in summer. It is believed to be a treatable condition with full spectrum artificial lighting. The term full spectrum lighting is a marketing term and high spectrum lighting may refer to blue light boxes that filter out other colors.

“Full-spectrum” is not a technical term when applied to an electrical light bulb but rather a marketing term implying that the product emulates natural light.[1]

Products marketed as “full-spectrum” may produce light throughout the entire spectrum, but actually do not produce an even spectral distribution, and may not even differ substantially from lights not marketed as “full-spectrum”.[

Sleep time is a matter of biological clock and can be effected by less light in winter this can be addressed by numbers of disciplines including dark therapy, (sleep mask)and behaviour therapy ( don’t be in bed except for sleep and relations.)

If you feel better after spending money then there are many ways to do that but understanding that your bio-clock may be out from a differentschedule is a key to making adjustments.

Another new Tesla S owner charges his car in Merritt. The Kamloops BC resident that just bought this new EV says charging here works for him as he loops through Kelowna and back home. The model also sports a D Designation meaning 2 axles under power or (four wheel drive ). There is also to seats with belts to secure two “Grand Kids” facing backward behind the rear seats. Suitable for kids nearing 4 feet in height it looks like loading a raised trunk a with children with a view of the road behind.
The car was purchased for about 130 thousand dollars and reflected a discount in the Canadian dollar.
The Tesla Corporation had a half billion dollar cash infusion from the US Government, the owner also recovered a 5 thousand dollar incentive from BC hydro, he charged his car with out cost at the 500 amp charger at Voght and Merritt Ave, here.
