The Vikram lander didn’t complete its landing intact on September 7th 2019 (North American time. ) There have been three countries make a successful landing on the moons surface the US, China and Russia. Only the US has landed people on the moon.
Google’s inexpensive landing…
Prizes by Google and donations saw Israel attempt a low cost lander. in February 2019. They would have been the 7th country to land on the moon, however engine failure in decent caused a crash as well. The mission was still deemed a success for various reasons. India’s attempt was also a low cost attempt.
Sunday saw a total lunar eclipse of the moon high in the sky because of the season. It resulted in a great dark sky. The total eclipse lasted 61 minutes as the moon sat like a washed pearl in a black abyss .
A moon coming to within 90 percent of its closest approach or 364,740 Kilometers of earth is super moon according to a 1979 definition. The next one is next week On January 21st. The year 2019 will see 3 more, August 1st and 3oth, and September 28th!
January’s moon a blood moon.
Next weeks moon is to be a blood moon where the shadow of the earth gets on the moon when all lined up with the sun and makes an eclipse.
Farmers Almanac take:
Totality will last a bit longer than average: 1 hour and 2 minutes. The eclipse will actually begin when the Moon enters the faint outer portion (called the penumbra) of the Earth’s shadow about an hour before it begins moving into the umbra. The penumbra, however, is all but invisible to the eye until the Moon becomes deeply immersed in it. Sharp-eyed viewers may get their first glimpse of the penumbra as a faint “smudge” on the left part of the Moon’s disk about a half hour after it first enters the penumbral shadow.

The entire 3.5-hour event—including partial eclipses before and after totality—will be visible from the Americas, Greenland, Iceland, western Europe, and western Africa. Sky-watchers in eastern Europe and eastern Africa will witness only the partial eclipse, while people in most of Asia will not see any part of the sky show.

Friday, (Saturday some places)that pesky full moon will be a harvest moon. The event is close to the fall equinox on the 22nd so the angle that it appears in the horizon will be smaller then usual.
The Earth’s axis is always tilted at an angle of about 23.4° in relation to the ecliptic, the imaginary plane created by the Earth’s path around the Sun. On any other day of the year, either the southern hemisphere or the Northern Hemisphere tilts a little towards the Sun. But on the two equinoxes, the tilt of the Earth’s axis is perpendicular to the Sun’s ray.
The fullness of the moon will be at 9:05:06 Central European Time, here it will be 12:05:06 PDT, Pacific Daylight Time.
Full moons are often attributed to strange events including a recent study by the University of Tokyo suggesting large earthquakes correspond to large tidal events, these events are driven by gravitational pull on the earth from the moon.
University of Tokyo, found that tides—which arise from the gravitational interaction between the Earth and the Moon—can cause changes that may trigger earthquakes. Source Time Magazine.
Editors note: Or the last tidal event triggered the big one meant for you…
