Property on the moon.

Not permanently attached

The moon base that is being planned is not attached to the moon. On Earth and in particular Canada the juristiction for regulation comes in two forms one being the government established over the land making by way of legislation that level of control, this is secured by the permanent attachment of buildings to land under the level of constitutional power given and its presence to govern.

The other being finance, dead pledge or other lenders and financers have laws that they can use to have returns of investment or other rewards out of underwriting.

Like Antarctica the moon is treaty bound not to be owned by any separate jurisdictions and like a trailer park equity is hard to realize. In tangibles such of knowledge can be freely exercised but like photos once printed they surly lose claim to tangible value as knowledge can seldom be bound.

Treaty since 1967

The governance and allocation of rights to the moon are indeed guided by an international treaty known as the Outer Space Treaty. This treaty, which came into force in 1967, outlines principles for the use and exploration of outer space, including the moon. It establishes that the moon and other celestial bodies are not subject to national appropriation by any means, and that they are to be used for peaceful purposes. Additionally, the treaty stipulates that the exploration and use of outer space, including the moon, should be carried out for the benefit of all countries and should not be subject to individual appropriation. Therefore, the tangible value of the moon cannot be owned or shared in the traditional sense, and any rights or claims to the moon must comply with the guidelines set forth in the Outer Space Treaty.

Moon base

Musky point of view..

The commerical hopeful SpaceX has had three recent test flights of its interplanetary rocket that they U to use to establish their presence in space, the moon and then Mars. The Starship has tickled the face of low earth orbit collect data then failed to return; something integeral to the program.

Nasa is to fly around the moon in the new Artimas I Rocket then return to earth with its 4 live crew persons in a test for a landing with the historic first female to be on the moon. Good luck.

Trailer park boys

Both Musk’s SpaceX and NASA are progressing in their respective programs for lunar exploration. SpaceX has conducted three recent test flights of its interplanetary rocket, Starship, aimed at establishing a presence in space, the moon, and eventually Mars. While they have collected data from low Earth orbit, they encountered issues with the rocket’s return, which is a crucial aspect of the program.

On the other hand, NASA is advancing with its Artemis I mission, planning to fly around the moon using the new Artemis I Rocket. The mission will also mark a historic event with the inclusion of the first female astronaut to walk on the moon. The program is moving forward as NASA prepares for a test landing with a live crew of four astronauts. This sets the stage for an exciting period of lunar exploration for both SpaceX and NASA.

Creating a moonbase involves several safety concerns that need to be addressed to ensure the well-being of the inhabitants and the success of the mission. Some of the key safety concerns include:

  1. Radiation Exposure: The moon’s surface lacks a protective atmosphere, exposing inhabitants to a higher level of cosmic and solar radiation. Shielding materials and designated shelters must be implemented to minimize radiation exposure.
  2. Micrometeoroids and Lunar Dust: Lunar dust and micrometeoroids pose a risk to structures as well as the health of astronauts. Designing resilient structures and developing proper filtration systems are essential to mitigate these risks.
  3. Life Support Systems: Reliable life support systems are crucial for providing a habitable environment, including clean air, water, and food. Fail-safes and redundancies must be in place to ensure continuous support.
  4. Regolith Contamination: Controlling the spread of lunar regolith (soil) within the living spaces is important to prevent contamination of living quarters and equipment, which could pose health risks and affect the functionality of machinery.
  5. Psychological Well-being: Isolation, confinement, and the challenges of living in a harsh lunar environment can impact the mental well-being of inhabitants. Psychological support and recreational activities play a vital role in sustaining the mental health of the moonbase residents.

Addressing these safety concerns is essential for the successful establishment and operation of a moonbase, fostering a sustainable and secure environment for lunar exploration and potential future human habitats.

Risk…

Daily writing prompt
When is the last time you took a risk? How did it work out?

Risk is an intimate friend…

I know in part my action will take some where. My silent friend with always his name is risk and he is often mom on where we are going in any particular start. I do what is in front and wait to see the lead as often it is cloked in the misty fog of future as all the affected wait.

Takes no glee in seeing me down.

My risk takes no pleasure in seeing me beside myself in the torment of thought, but delights in action that trusts him to a suitable outcome.

There is no complete failure in risk when tested the ill wind that blows no one any good is side barred by the thrill of action, and dismayed at seeing allies to my cause come along and ride the course.

This is gallows humour!🤪

So we draw on our resolve to try and we go on.

In life, risk cannot always be entirely avoided. While some risks can be detrimental, taking calculated risks can lead to growth, learning, and success. It’s important to evaluate the potential outcomes and weigh the benefits against the potential downsides before taking a risk. Embracing risk can lead to new opportunities and experiences that may not have been possible otherwise. Ultimately, the key is to strike a balance and take risks wisely.

Let risk be your friend, the person who said fools rush in where Angels fear to tread never understood that both places do not exist, they are like all areas of fear manufactured by mindset of doubt. When you attempt you take away the fear mongers power and invite faith to your side as a narrative of hope. Any time you are aroused by action not idle chatter you are on your way to some better place then rotting in sweated poisoned prose.

Macro Photography Leanne Cleaveley

Thursday, April 18th 2024, 7:00 PM

The Nicola Naturalists are inviting people to see the works and methods of local Photographer Leanne Cleavly. The presentation will be held in the lecture theater at NVIT ( Nicola Valley Institute of Technology) top of the hill on Belshaw avenue in Merritt British Columbia next week Thursday.

Leanne a school teacher has a Macro lens for her camera and has spent time capturing insects and other small subjects at magnification. The images she presented in the members photo submissions have garnered acclaim amongst many of them.

There is free parking and the group is fond of saying “all welcome, membership or donations opportunity available” paraphrased, there is a raffle of naturalist donated articles at break with tickets at the table inside, proceeds support a bursary for a student at the school.

Macro photography is a specialized form of photography that involves capturing small subjects at extremely close distances, typically to highlight fine details that may not be easily visible to the naked eye. To achieve successful macro shots, photographers use a macro lens, which has the capability to focus sharply on subjects at close range and capture intricate details.

To excel at macro photography, it’s important to have a good understanding of lighting, as well as techniques for stabilizing the camera to avoid blurriness. Patience and precision are also key factors, as getting the perfect shot often requires careful adjustment and experimentation with composition.

Tips and Techniques for Macro Photography

Photo KDG ( tube extender and no tripod…)

Macro photography allows you to capture intricate details of small subjects. Here are some tips to enhance your macro photography skills:

1. Use a Macro Lens

  • Invest in a dedicated macro lens with a high magnification ratio.

2. Stable Platform

  • Use a tripod to ensure stability and prevent unwanted blurriness.

3. Adjust Aperture

  • Select a narrow aperture (higher f-stop number) to increase depth of field and keep more of the subject in focus.

4. Lighting

  • Consider using diffused natural light or a ring flash to illuminate the subject evenly.

5. Focus Carefully

  • Pay attention to precise focusing to highlight the intricate details of the subject.

6. Background

  • Choose a clean and uncluttered background to make the subject stand out.

7. Patience

  • Be patient and take your time to capture the perfect shot, as macro photography requires attention to detail.

Remember, practice and experimentation are key to mastering macro photography.

TGIF-2030 coming fast…

So, 2030 is a big year in the experience of humanity, no Vancouver Olympics but air will not be sucked out of the room so to speak. The IOC has come out favouring the French Alps. The official decision is to be made on July 23rd 2024 at the 142nd OAC meeting for Olympic venue selection.

Vancouver’s bid

Vancouver’s bid failed to get the support of the BC government and has floundered as The Americans enjoy favour on the 2034 salt lake city venue and others wonder when and why is a successful Olympics bid made.

Gas in time

Decades in making

LNG stands for Liquefied Natural Gas. It is natural gas that has been cooled to a liquid state, which makes it easier and safer to store and transport. This process reduces its volume significantly, making it more cost-effective to ship over long distances. Once it reaches its destination, LNG is converted back into its gaseous state for various uses, such as heating, electricity generation, and as a fuel for vehicles.
