We think very highly of the Chinese and British Columbia

The group provided the dangerous labor of using nitroglycerine in building the CPR and the CNR and that brought British Columbia into confederation. They adjusted well to the immigrant status and complied to some legislations that limited them to restaurants laundries and other service industries. However we cal the dry good store in Merritt that was constructed in the 1920s and run by local Chinese for many many decades. The building at the corner of Hope Street and canford avenue didn’t survive the aftermath of the November 14th 2021 flood in Merritt BC.

Thanks to Brenda Wong, for years of exemplary service has she managed the Canada Cafe in the downtown of Merritt and provided a richness to the culture and an inclusion to this little city.

Oil painting for beginners can be a rewarding and enjoyable artistic journey. Here are some essential tips to help you get started:

  1. Gather quality materials: Invest in good quality brushes, oil paints, canvases, and a palette. Opt for a range of brush sizes to cater to different details in your painting.
  2. Understand the basics: Familiarize yourself with oil painting basics such as color mixing, brush techniques, and different mediums.
  3. Start with simple subjects: Begin with simple subjects such as still life or landscapes. These subjects allow you to focus on mastering techniques without feeling overwhelmed.
  4. Use a limited color palette: Start with a limited range of colors to avoid feeling overwhelmed. As you gain confidence, you can gradually expand your palette.
  5. Experiment with different techniques: Don’t be afraid to experiment with different brush strokes, palette knife techniques, and layering methods.
  6. Allow layers to dry: Unlike watercolors or acrylics, oil paints take longer to dry. Take this into account when working on your piece, and consider allowing each layer to dry before adding more detail.
  7. Seek inspiration and guidance: Watch tutorials, read books, and observe the works of established oil painters to gain inspiration and learn new techniques.

Remember, the key to improving your oil painting skills is practice and patience. Enjoy the process and don’t be disheartened by initial challenges. Happy painting!Ai

Snow how

Drift don’t rift…

When dealing with accumulations of snow, it’s important to clear pathways and areas to ensure safety and mobility. Here are some common methods for managing snow accumulations:

  1. Shoveling: Use a snow shovel to manually remove snow from walkways, driveways, and other areas.
  2. Snow Blower: Consider using a snow blower for larger accumulations or heavy, wet snow.
  3. De-Icing: Apply ice melt or salt to prevent slippery conditions on walkways.
  4. Roof Raking: If snow accumulates on your roof, consider using a roof rake to prevent ice dams and roof damage.
  5. Snow Storage: When clearing snow, consider where to pile it so it doesn’t obstruct visibility or access.

Remember to prioritize safety when clearing snow, and consider enlisting help for larger accumulations or difficult conditions.Ai

Infrared light, also known as infrared radiation, is a type of electromagnetic radiation that is invisible to the human eye. It is commonly used in various applications, including night vision technology, remote controls, and thermal imaging. Infrared light has longer wavelengths than visible light, and it is often associated with heat. This type of light plays a crucial role in many scientific and technological fields, contributing to advancements in areas such as astronomy, medicine, and environmental monitoring.

Space telescopes

Space telescopes have revolutionized our understanding of the universe by providing unprecedented views of distant celestial objects and phenomena. Unlike ground-based telescopes, space telescopes are not affected by the Earth’s atmosphere, allowing them to capture clearer and sharper images of cosmic entities. They have enabled scientists to observe and study various astronomical phenomena, such as distant galaxies, nebulae, exoplanets, and other celestial bodies with remarkable precision.

Some of the most renowned space telescopes include the Hubble Space Telescope, which has delivered iconic images and made significant contributions to astrophysics, and the Spitzer Space Telescope, which specialized in infrared astronomy, unveiling cosmic mysteries hidden from visible-light observations. Additionally, the James Webb Space Telescope, set to launch in the near future, promises to further expand our cosmic horizons with its advanced infrared capabilities.

Space telescopes continue to fuel groundbreaking discoveries, deepen our understanding of the cosmos, and inspire a sense of wonder and fascination for the enigmatic vastness of space. Ai
