The Canada 2024 Day was observed on Monday at and about the band shell at central park. The Doug James band invited 3 hours of music ending at 3:00 p.m.. There were many kids that enjoyed the water and the playgrounds while some parents and grandparents took in the music and the displays including a Merritt Country Capital of Canada tent, face painting the mobile art van from the Arts Council. The park entrance was guarded by two fire trucks and a number of first responders welcomed people to the park in the parking lot. Symmetry seemed to be in vogue as people were often in red and maple leafs were abundant giving a sense of connection.

Have a great year

Today is National Get Over it Day,

On National Get Over It Day, on March 9, people everywhere are encouraged to self-reflect and move on from whatever it is that’s weighing on them. Created by Jeff Goldblatt — an entrepreneur who was having trouble getting over an ex-girlfriend, the day has its roots in failed romance — something that’s very challenging to get over! Realizing his pain was relatable, Goldblatt made a website and posted a poem. The rest, as they say, is history (the relationship included). Today, let’s take some time to self-reflect, figure out what’s weighing us down, and decide that the past should live in the past. Let’s get started and get over it!

Alternatives to waste?

Using any plastic bags for the 24 hrs of the observance whoa, hold up there may be sanctions. No its just to draw attention. No one is watching, however it is the 10th year and they are looking for input for better and more lasting ways to deal with the single use plastic issue.

1.5 million dollar recycle recycle.

About 1500 tons of waste is in process to of being burnt in Burnaby at this writing. The waste is being returned to Canada from the Philippines after being rejected as recyclable. Its seems out of sight is no longer out of mind. The million and a half could surely been spent more wisely.

Loose bags and single use plastic.

The greatest problem for the environment is the loose single use plastic that gets in the environment and smothers coral, kills birds and reeks havoc on soil dynamics.

Happy International Plastic Bag Free Day!Capture plastic before it captures us.
