500 volt 120 amp quick charger
There is a new quick charger at the Arena parking lot on Voght street. The 500 volt 120 amp charger was put in place by Hub electric last week and the worker thought it would be in service this week.

The Treaty that ended WWW 1 is signed in a railway car taken from the orient express, the railway that was suppose to unify Europe.
Editors note: the railcar was put in a museum until in was taken out and used to make the French surrender in WW 11. It was later destroyed when thing s turned against the Germans later in the war.

The price of gasoline has dropped once again as the Petro Canada station at the junction of 5A, 97C and highway 8 is selling regular gas at $1.27.9 down one cent a liter from last week.
A motorist was queried about his use of the premium grade gasoline at a shell outlet this week ” My new taurus requires it” ” I don’t get the power or mileage with the lower grades.” The man said, he also related experience in the trucking industry in the US.

There is a community access defibrillator in the foyer of the Merritt Civic Center. The unit was donated in part by the Boston Pizza organization the defibrillator is marked AED and behind a glass cover.

November 9th is a super Saturday for the Vancouver Aquarium, the facility will be open an hour early for its members. BC hydro is endorsing ocean awareness and the Vancouver aquarium. There is a great concern about the ocean and its endangered species, over fishing cruelty to sharks and bait. The Vancouver aquarium will give an appreciation for its beauty and value past commercial interests.

The local community college has a speakers series, its first event of the season last night featured a local member of their faculty, Sharon McIvor. Sharon has an activist’s bent to her career. She is A lawyer but generally refuses income from her place on the bar. Does not like to practice criminal law,she has however a couple of presidents to her credit including O’Connor vrs Canada were she got on going revisions to the way victims statements are reviewed in sexual assault cases and the McIvor amendment to the Indian act that brought 46,000 grand children of the Indian women that lost their status over time through marriage. The women were restored in the 1980s by legislation but their grandchildren were not at that time.
Sharon voiced concerns on poverty oppression and missing or murdered women. she has a voice at the UN through a couple of committees .Sharon also voiced concerns about the relationship of First Nations with the Police. she also said that if it were proportional to population there would be about 19,000 missing or murdered non aboriginal women.
She feels that the way government is addressing issues is by providing money for training to groups, personal safety is the one she took ownership of for her people. She alluded to it being something but seemed less than satisfied.
Sharon McIvor says she was born in the Nicola Valley and can trace her mother’s side as always being here.

Simon Fraser University has a presence here today at the local community college. Their theme is Engaging the world and are specifically presenting to Academic criminology prospects for degrees.
SFU has a distinction of having won the world pipe band contests in Scotland. The school is named after the Explorer Simon Fraser who was the first to make it to the Pacific ocean by Land. He also relied on the most major river in British Columbia that bears his name today. The Fraser River empties into the Pacific ocean at Vancouver

bout 20 people in the center of town and we noticed lots of cars taking kids to homes of people they knew and trusted.

A coal mine disaster in Spring Hills Nova Scotia kills 39 miners, 88 are rescued.
This morning we talked to a local wood cutter KIm Robinson. We said Archie **** is looking to have a tree fallen in his front yard on Parker drive. ” Archie said that he thought it would be thousands of dollars and was concerned that the pitch wood would be hard to dispose of from the Ponderosa pine that dominates his front yard in front of his house.
Kim showed us his fellers licence and said that it was needed to fall trees for money. He estimated that it cost 30 k to acquire a licence and that inspections are strict and frequent when he uses it to fall snags on the perimeters of cut blocks. “WCB have a real program to check your competence I know of fellers sited for doing some back cuts and it was on their record for some time.
The estimate is from Kim an experienced woodsman and he says that you can no longer be grandfathered.
Archie also though there may be a minister around that does that.
