Canada approved the Trans Mountain Expansion on June 18, 2019. The work is subject to 156 conditions that the regulator ensures are carried out. The most prodigious condition of construction is always the cleanup or reclamation.
The stated goal of this project’s reclamation efforts is to protect the environment, have a small impact on land, and return it to its original function if there were to be an impact.
Wetlands, Farm to be returned to function if disrupted.
Trans Mountain has committed to this in writing in the application conditions in the approval and in more generic terms in its newsletter and of course by doing it along the way. Some things are mitigated when the original value is degraded and the enjoyment of local life enhanced by mitigating a recreational or environmental legacy for communities.
There are many specifics in this month’s trans mountain today on plans and opportunities for the reclamation of the progressive and completed work.
These are us!
This is us, we own this as Canadians at this point, and the value of our citizenship is being communicated by the care and control of this endeavor. Let’s look at this as a legacy for the civility and attachment to successful completion and mitigation during a very challenging time in our life. Fortune follows the brave and while not viewed as heroic the fact that it goes through us, bisects our land, and curates our landscape with a common compliment, is indeed a legacy, we should brood. Because it was done right when other things were wrong. Done right in the way that patient progress passed the clamor of fears.
Marie Antoinette, said. “you take the cake” spoof
I was a queen, and you took away my crown; a wife, and you killed my husband; a mother, and you deprived me of my children. My blood alone remains: take it, but do not make me suffer long.
Today is National Pharmacy Technician Day, since 2015 the third Tuesday of the month is NPTD ” we thank technicians for their tireless efforts.”
Buy a gift only we could tip pharmacy techs! Failing that, a teddy bear, balloon, box of chocolates, or a nice flower to brighten up their workplace (artificial, so as to keep things clean) is sure to light up their day.
Get a flu shot, National Pharmacy Techs Day happens to land right in the run-up to flu season, and most pharmacies offer flu shots. Seeing your pharmacy tech for a flu shot now is a great way to ensure you don’t have to see them under less happy circumstances later.
Just say “thanks”! Pharmacies can have hundreds of people in and out in a single day, and most of those customers aren’t there to socialize. Simply taking the time to tell a pharmacy tech you appreciate them can make a pharm tech’s day.

Trans Mountain Expansion,, TMX is a pipeline that is a twinning of an existing one that comes from the Edmonton Alberta area and brings Alberta crude west through Burnaby to refineries in the US that process and distribute oil products into the free market. Trans mountain works on a tariff system that it charges producers to transport the crude to destinations. They do not own the oil.

Owned by the Government of Canada.
The 60 year oil company that was the Trans Mountain Pipeline was bought the Trudeau Government from US investors to ensure that the national interest of its bringing oil from Alberta was secure against the “oppression of the majority” and other dynamics of the provincial interest of big against small, wealth transfer, strategic supply of the needed chemicals for energy, food , medicines, and the sovereign Canadian ability to mange its own.
Trans Mountain pipeline was commissioned in March 1951, after an act of the Canadian Parliament created it.
Trans mountain pipeline was born in the public interest, moved in and out of public control over its life time and at this time remains steadily in Canadian public control, at least until completion of and the maturity of its role in the supply line. The standards of construction and maintenance may exceed what is generically called an oil pipeline elsewhere in the world, which is good we believe. The following videos are produced by Trans Mountain however they are film and can be easily verified by interested.
Climate Change Emergency.
The discourse of the current federal election has some candidates calling global warming as an emergency situation. We agree that the demands of human population is making for all kinds of emergency situations and they all need attention. The carbon thing is to be addressed by emissions controls after use and requires industry to do it if other needed dynamics are not to be neglected.
Insurance
Some are calling for the insurance industry to not give insurance to the TMX operations, in an effort to stop the construction. We have not researched who may be providing insurance to the operations. However for those that find comfort in the fact that insurance company’s often partner by under writing projects we would remind you that the Canadian Government self insures its operations as do some large corporations and because the TMX operations are government owned its a mute point to try to undermine its construction by that kind of boycott
Sense of place
The way the expansion and indeed the continuation of life on earth should not violate our peoples sense of place or belonging.. Three generations have come along of people that directly benefited from Trans Mountain operations, sense of place is well established with these, we hope that those that are not at arms length will try to and speak out when needed, to support the good things, that may come to the people in the macro sense.
As reported by TechCrunch in July 2018, aviation currently accounts for four percent of global greenhouse gas emissions. With this flight, Norway announced plans to do their part to cut into that number and fly all short-haul flights from its airports on electric planes by 2040. While current models of the Alpha Electro G2 aircraft only seat two people, multiple companies around the world are working on plans to develop commercial-ready electric aircrafts. No commercial airplanes are currently in the production stages of development, but the officials believe they will be ready in time to be implemented prior the the self-imposed 2040 deadline.
Norwegian officials believe the goal is possible due to the layout of the country’s airports. Commercial airports are spread across the country but the vast majority connect via short flights on smaller aircrafts, making it a viable step towards the country’s goals for reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Chevron oil running progressive research adds July 2021..
It is human to try, according to Chevron they are looking at everything from electric , solar , and fusion to diversify energy. It looks like one politician found a way to save the environment by getting at least a half century of use from a bush wheeled airplane here in Merritt BC, It is human to try, and every one can support future concerns in their own way. If it suits them and the country!
100 million cars off the road…
A concept that immediate relief may need 100s of millions of cars off the road may not be that far away for North America. Rotating seasons of use restrictions by imposing mandated even odd day licence plate use may be a proactive measure to curb consumption. That measure would surely produce reliable data on cause and effect. Something to think about on our next 50 degree day. Were all in this together!
Transit is an option, including air transit where it fits. The saying we will overcome this by hard work, and application of good morals , and a little belief may not work on the macro level but in spots it still flies.
2018 a record year for EV sales in he US.
A 64 % increase in electric vehicles in the US in 2018 added over 2 million EVs being used in the US. The world wide number of EVs is something over 2 percent. The current EVs can be enjoyed and have a stand alone carbon foot print about 3 time lees then fueled cars. Watts per meter value goes way down manufacturing from scratch and if you generate electricity where you are by burning fossil fuels. In any case they are enjoyable to some people and surely don not poison your immediate life space like fuel can. Norway came into 2021 with 49 percent of sales being electric this is somewhat by decree however the coercion is probably because it suits their situation, and the population agrees with it. That sort of thing does not fly as well in our North American culture. Choice still remains supreme.
Tesla sold 160,000 units in 2019
Tesla is still the driver in some of this, selling 160,000 units in 2019. The projection for the US is 20 percent of sales by 2027 how much of its share tesla will have is likely to decline with most manufactures having a EV product in the sales..
Cars in operation in the US.
At the end of the 4 quarter in the United States there were 281.4 million cars in operation. They did not punt to EV that quarter as they never have as yet in substantives way.
We recommend purchasing a n EV at this time as they can be very enjoyable safe and effective if you plan your consumption of power.
Enjoy an electric aircraft if you can.
The same goes for EV planes be an early opted person for a EV plane it should be enjoyable and maybe can replace your car. The first FAA approved EV plane was the Alpha Electro in 2014. It it had nothing to do with the Bob Cummings show in the 50s and 60s and everything to do with reality. What ever that is.

The local naturalists are having their first full program meeting of the season on Thursday October 19th at the NVIT lecture, theater top of the hill Belshaw avenue, in Merritt. Presenter David Brooks will have a book for sale at the meeting.
Author and naturalist, David Pitt-Brooke stepped out for a walk one morning—a very long walk. He covered over a thousand kilometres through the valleys of southern interior British Columbia. He went in search of beauty and lost grace in a landscape that has seen decades of development and upheaval. Based on his recently published book, David will speak about his journey’s experiences, including moments of discovery and re-connection with the natural world. David is an eloquent speaker and his presentation, combined with photographs from his journey and of the nature he encountered, is a real treat. source NNS

The Burnaby from Edmonton approved expansion will see one medium tanker a day every day. One tanker a day should be safer then the possibility of collision. Some diligent people will need to secure the confidence of Vancouver people.
One hundred and fifty seven conditions came out of consultations on the approval of Trans Mountain’s expansion and some conditions by the province need to be met.
The Government is probably interested in carbon schemes .(to help pay for the fiduciary duty to people)
Editors note: Bad faith must be avoided!
When permits are let there must be a reasonable expectation of completion for the risk taken. Permits were let and a 63 year operation with a proven track record and a good community record is not valued enough. We lose something in this.
Trans Mountain’s operation effects us all; what did they expect to happen when permiting the original development. What do you expect when hiring someone…. This is Us not Them!
Keep up the scrutiny….

The first Welland Canal opens for a trial after 5 years of construction.
No its not a horror movie rather its a friend from the past. The onion was and invention of Heinz Lange here in Merritt and a version of it powered a warning light on the hillside leaving Merritt to the north and approaching the airstrip for decades.
A source with the city says that it is Murphy Shewchuck behind it’s construction it is being placed at the entrance to the Kinsman Park on Voght street and a plaque stand is in place ready to receive some acknowledgement.
Murphy Shewchuck is a retired BC Hydro employee and a free-lance writer and photographer. He has written several books on Merritt history and its trails and attractions. He also is published in outdoors magazines. He is a member of the Nicola Naturalists and a principal at the local museum and archives. http://www.murphyshewchuk.com/guidebooks/
Heinz Lange was a high school shop teacher passed away decades ago after a long a productive career here. He immigrated from Germany after the second world war after being on the side not prevailing as a test pilot for the Messerschmitt jet aircraft. Many of us remember him fondly as a teacher who cared and was energetic and positive. His windmill was also deployed in tests to aerate lakes in the area. He is said to have gotten a patent for his invention in the United States.
Reconciliation was his and many others aim here in the Nicola Valley.

The 130 KV transmission line from Merritt to the Highland Valley is under way. A legal notice from BC Hydro put in the local paper says that helicopters will be stringing rope lines for the line for less then a week and be finished by mid December. Sources say that the line is a two wooded pole “H style” construction.
The project is slated to finish in 2015.
