The University of Rome,La Spanienza is begun  by the Pope.

A great attraction to the lower mainland is the Vancouver Aquarium. A noble cause and an expensive one it has the support of the corporate community. A Van stopping here shows a great Public relations value to its BC Hydro sponsor. We are with in a few hours of the facility and it is often used for field trips and an interest point when visiting outside this small community. We also get a great collage of vehicle traffic stopping here on their way to major centers.

Power pole replacement

The local power utility yard has  been busy replacing power poles in the last few years. When asked, a person on the crew said that sometimes they replace poles completely in a particular area. However most of the replacement comes from the results of  drilling and testing poles. The poles have plastic plugs put in them and numbers of them can be seen in some poles.

The telephone company also has lines on some hydro poles  lower then the power lines and they must coöperate in maintenance..

About twenty years ago  the utility drove galvanised steel beams by some  poles and bolted them to the beams. They are not apparently doing that now. And when asked about scheduling  the source said he was not aware of any schedule and that  it was ad hoc as far as replacement was concerned.

Dentist

There are 2 dentist offices here, some people like the ones in other communities, a fellow here prefers the one in Logan Lake, a small mining town in the Highland Valley about 90 kilometers away. Mark enjoys to take a bicycle ride to the dentist there as there is lots of scenery and nature to enjoy on the way. Its about 5 hrs for him.

Highland Valley Copper operates up there the open pit that can be seen from space. Also scenic mine tours can be arranged starting in May.

The announcement of  major construction coming by at some uncertain time in the future . Has not given any sense of excitement.

The government used these projects in the past to crate certainty for the economy we hope that there will not be unusual delay in the letting of the work to qualified contractor.

And no reply from email inquires to local agents.

We recommend wearing a light helmet when doing this activity.

Baseline

The survey people were out early on Sunday morning at 8 am two crew members had a base line on the 2200 block of Granite Avenue , across from the Spirit Square.

The boss came by and he told me they needed a base line for corners and the City was having them survey right in the door jams of the buildings on the north side of the street. The 14 satellites that he expected to get will not be available in the cover of the jams.

The area has been talked about as a home for the Canadian Country Hall of Fame.
