Red Cross

There was a red cross presence here several years ago when a conservative government was elected on a privatization campaign. It is not a big presence now,I know a volunteer that arranges crutches  for people was the last I heard of them.  I am not sure they still do that. Crutches can be rented from drug stores and purchased out right. The organization is known as a NGO Non Government Organization in the United States and as a relief organization. Something that the government does most of here. An American  Red Cross Ambulance showed up in a used car lot recently we think reflecting a better purchasing position of the Canadian dollar across the line.

A source says that Wall Mart sells crutches and the lowest price is the law.

Paste

Paste costume jewelery

The glitz and glamor of doing yourself up can include paste, around here it would play well especially at high school. Probably not in Hollywood . They say  Hollywood is high school with money , so who else can we emulate on a budget, that’s a small town advantage .

Found property

A bicycle is said to be waiting to be picked up by the bylaw officer from the downtown policing station. Found property is kept 3 months then disposed of , by crown assets disposal in the past some bikes were given to non profits  for fund-raising. To have an insurance claim a bike needs to be stolen and a file given from the police. Most bikes found are under the 500 dollar deductible limit for insurance some bikes are really expensive. We think that it is a burden on police resources to be chasing these things. So keep your bike out of sight and out of mind.

Remember there is a six month limitation period on petty crimes and you always run a chance of being called as a witness to a prosecution in that period.

In general attention should be paid to terms of coverage of policies still loss prevention helps us all.

old mine

This sheve wheel likely sat on top a mine head frame at one time and is now an object of interest in someones yard.

I drilled at a place called mill creek some years ago and there was a flooded shaft with a wooded head frame on it that this would be right at home with. There were lots of these glory holes about in the last century great depression era.

Mine town

This home is on the bench in here. The Bench was a new development when the mine opened in the early 60’s. My Dads Uncle built the second home as a contractor and others after. The bench had a color divide until this home was purchased by an Asian. Now owned by another Asian who has two subway franchises here, it’s a different world now. We think that it was not on purpose but reflected the economic divide and a the minority status of Asians immigrating here that worked agriculture and sawmilling, the richness of the mine brought people with more expectations than those from overseas.
