The last item under Interesting things in he right hand menu bar on the blog home page has a butterflies and moths link to log sightings. data collected is used for conservation purposes. If you take in a campsite this year why not take a picture of butterflies , moths and caterpillars and register them once you open an account. There are many identified on the website already and adding yours will enhance data collection.

The power utility has camp sites in BC and unlike the the the dam visitor sites the rec sites are open this spring and summer (avoid weekends) as they are busy then.

First come first serve no reservations are taken.

Hydro rec sites are first come first serve.

The local junior team and the longest running franchise in the league the Merritt Centennials have yet to win a game in the 2020 year. Since January the team has suffered losses one after the other, the last was against Chilliwack on Wednesday away . Saturday gives a chance to break the streak as well as some peoples heart that suffer from Triskaidekaphobia. The team meets Salmon Arm in Merritt on Saturday.

The local junior hockey club had 80 hopefuls at their main camp this year. The club was carrying 30 when they had their exhibition game on the 24th in Merritt. The Cents lost 5 to 2 to the Pentiction Vees. The next exhibition contest is in Prince George tonight with the Spruce KIngs.

The Nicola Valley Community Garden Society is having a presentation on March 19th 2019, 6 30 to 7:30 a Earth Walkers 2090 Granite Ave in Merritt.
The talk is on caring for houseplants and tropical plants. The presentation will be followed by a meeting of the Garden Society.

The fishing club has used Mamit lake for their winter derby for numbers of years. They are familiar with the small 2KN2 lake and its conditions. As well as general conditions of the valley. The club has always demonstrated responsibility.

The Club will be having our annual fishing derby on January 13, 2019. It will be held @ Mamit Lake. We will share the poster as soon as it is completed. Tickets will be available for purchase at the event.

LAKE ACCESS
From Kamloops ,head south along Highway 5 to Meadow Creek Road (exit 336), and continue to the town of Logan Lake. At the end of this road, you will meet Highway 97c. Turn left (south) here on to the Highway, also known as Mamit Lake Road, and follow for about 12 km. The road wraps around the eastern shore of the lake and is easy to spot.

The Nicola Valley Community  Arts Council is having a show of artisan works for sale. The show has a special musical guest Shirley Lindgren for the official reception on Friday 4- 7 pm.

The Gallery is at 1840 Nicola avenue in Merritt and the artisan show runs from November 30th to December 22 2018. Open from 12- 6pm Thursday through Saturday. Coordinator Yano Howorth.
