Today in 1901: oil gusher in Texas

January 10th 1901 the Spindletop oil well comes. Spindletop was the first great well of the Texas oil bonanza.

So, we go where we go and go when, we have gas.
Some that don not, will not and respite will prevail.
Winds of change will make our bed unless we will not sail.
On that breeze complete, with out ease, and before we sneeze.
Let reflect on what was best, and forget the rest, it was a pest.

Adjust to what is it that makes some sense. Nor other does best!

The only data difference that resonates…

The amount of people, roads and vehicles, you have to be a cartoon character to understand. There were 1,600,000,000 in 1900 we just went over 8 billion in 2022.

Most of the world is seeking a lifestyle more in line with the US. The Irony is that oil produced the variance. Anyway if you work at it there are lots more friends available.

TGIF- remembrance Day…

11, 11, 11.

What is the meaning.?

So, this is a solemn week ending on Friday with the remembrance Day observances.

The armistice was signed before laying down of arms at the 11th day of the 11th month after 11:00 hour.

So, it is on us to remember the sacrifice of people who secured our freedom over time with the military forces. However it shouldn’t be a lecture, it should be just a getting together and agreeing on the sense that sometimes over time things haven’t worked out and force was required. And that we can benefit from observing the slippery slope that brought that into being in the past.

Then taking a sober view of the remembrance knowing that it can incite all kinds of old wounds if the agreement isn’t widespread that it should never happen again.

So good luck with that, as I leave you with a quote from the character Sandra Bullock played in the movie Gravity. When she was in terrible Jeopardy trying to get away from a falling apart space station, she said I know that we all die and with tears she went on to say but I’m going to die right now.

How to live on properly.

To expound on her feeling yes everybody does die, but how they die is important, not leaving baggage, chaos or conflict, but a peace presence of thoughts of you is a noble charge.

The mind of a bee

The little creatures that collect plant nectar and pollinate the plants are not mindless. Bees recognize faces, learn by watching and trying. Have emotions and communication abilities.

Canada produces 1.77 million metric tons per year..The average profit for a person that keeps a bees is about $600 per hive.

Canada maintained and increased the income from honey in 2020, $208 million dollars.

Piece of the action.

Bees may soon develop the ability to negotiate a better deal and keep more of their production. Tongue in cheek.

The expansion and redo of the 60 year old Trans Mountain oil line to Burnaby from Edmonton is employing nearly 10,000 people at this point. A great deal of national prestige and the sense that we as a people can do something and do it right is balanced on the outcome of this venture.

There is almost double the amount of doses per 100 people in Canada as compared to the world’s 80.75. The number of 1st doses for the world is north of three and a half billion. This is taking pressure off the notion that there is an inequity in giving boosters to the vulnerable in the Canadian population.

Alberta September cases 15% of all cases since beginning of outbreak

Alberta reported 45,655 cases in September. The reason is purported to be because of unrestricted opening up that was to early and a large unvaccinated population.

Get vaccinated.

Now is the time for the resistant to be vaccinated. There is a lot of access including major grocery store pharmacies.

Large populations of young returning to school.

Six Hundred thousand children are returning to school in BC this fall and smaller doses of vaccine is on the cusp of being used for them. The amount world wide is a considerable part of the population and the undertaking would go better if the unvaccinated was not a complication.

Good luck as we hope for a return to normal living.

Japanese History as Seamen

The Japanese have a tradition of seamanship and vessels. They are not to be mistaken for the Chinese and their junks. Both have a long trading history with the middle east and the sill road when it was mostly navigated by following the long coastline. Their craft resembles the Arabic sloops of that time.
